Well, you all know my stance on the spiritual side of things ... but right now my daughter could use some prayers. She was diagnosed with a very rare childhood cancer. I won't be lurking around here much any more, but I did want to let people know why I have dropped out of cyberspace.

Best wishes to all, Marc

GG,

I have a child with Cystic Fibrosis, for which there is no cure. However, he is doing well at this time, for which we are grateful.

I say that to say, I hurt for you as a parent, and will try as often as I can remember to pray for your daughter. I would like to pray for her by name, if you do not mind giving it to us.

Don't be a total stranger. You have friends out here.

Marc,

I remember pictures I have seen of your sweet children, camping and fishing with thier dad. You share some precious memories I know and she is lucky to have you for this.

I am sorry. I will pray for her and for you and your family. Everything we talk about vanishes next to this.

You do have friends here. I count myself one. And I will pray.

Ditto what Esquire said.

I remember you. Haven't seen you post in a while, but I remember the tone and always thought well of you for your contributions.

I have 3 children of my own and fortunately, I haven't worn your shoes yet. And I pray I never will. But rest assured I will pray for you and your child. I have a very good friend, a fellow archer, who lost his son to a rare cancer just 2 years ago. Another archer friend of mine has a grandson with the same rare cancer.

I see the pain they wear on their faces and all I can do is pray for them and give them my support. And you have mine as well.

God Bless.

John.

greenghost,

I too feel your pain. I was wondering where you have been.

I will be praying for your daughter, you and your family.

God bless,

Ray

Marc,

There are different ways to have our hearts raped, tortured and fillet'd alive... I'm agonizingly familiar with many of them.

I also spent 14 years as a missionary/teacher and Chaplain... including Hospice/Fire/Police.

I don't know you from Adam. But I know the halls you're stumbling through.

If you ever feel the need, give me a shout (870)633-5965.

The pleadings with the King for mercy, healing... strength and joy, are already on the way. And the ear and heart of this bag of dust... stand ready.

Very sorry to hear this, Marc. I will pray that the road ahead will be a means of God to pour out His Gospel Grace into your lives - as only His Grace is sufficient in our weakness. I have found this to be true in my life in dealing with my daughter's chronic illness and my own.

I've enjoyed chatting with you in the past.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your precious daughter. I have two daughters myself (10 and 7), and they are the greatest thing I have ever been a part of. Be strong for her and know that the Lord is with her, and with you and your family. Whatever may lie ahead, God will be with you. Never doubt Him or question His will.

God bless you, my friend.

Marc,

I am also very sorry to hear about your daughter. I will pray that God will use it to pour out his Grace into your lives - as only His Grace is sufficient in our weakness. Please keep us updated when possible.

Well guys, thanks for the thoughts and prayers. I have to say that the response of the community here in Laramie has renewed my sense of faith in my fellow men.

Cato, you must be a strong man. The weight of having a sick child is crushing. But you are right--you learn to live a bit more from moment to moment and to appreciate those good times as they come. I can see that already.

Childhood cancers have fairly high cure rates. Ariana's cancer (Ewing's sarcoma) has a cure rate of nearly 80% if caught before metastisis. Unfortunately, even though we did catch the tumor on her spine quite early, it has already begun to spread to her lungs (she had a single very small lesion in her left lung). However, we remain hopeful that we caught it early enough.

Best, Marc
