I have a Proline riser that Bob Warf'd for me and put my new KAP Challengers (46 lbs on a 25H handle) on it, bought some lighter carbons and went shooting.

The bow tips the scale at 59-60 lbs. Is this possible or is the scale off. Also, the limbs shoot great. Today was my second time shooting it and I recorded a 261... I'm happy :)

I haven't chonographed the bow yet, but I had to adjust my aim down from my old bow that was shooting in the 195 fps range (at 67 lbs).

What is your draw length? That sounds a little high on the weight, maybe it was the Warf dust that got spilled on it by accident, usually I save that stuff for my own bows, try another bow scale not all of them are alike and one tends to pull it back a little farther when measureing one on a scale...warf

Hey guys.

Ok I have a warf bow that I got for Christmas. It is an old Darton riser. Bob put Quinn limbs on it for me. Now they were suppose to be 50lbs. Last weekend I got the bow weighed in, and it came out at about 65lbs. Which is perfect for me, but I don't think it is the bow scales. I think it is just these sweet bows!

Checked the draw weight and came up with 59 lbs again... our club scale must be sprung.

Anyway, here's a picture of the Warf... it helped me shoot a 262 today.

Bob,

I've changed my form from an open to more classic field ardhery stance and I'm now holding the bow vertical instead of canting.... the result is that my draw length has increased to 29" (no big surprise). The bow dow not stack at that draw and is comfortable to shoot.

I did notice one thing though and that is that the bottom limb needs to be adjusted... after a shot it looks like "Condition A" below. Can you give me some instructions for modifying the Warf to straighten it out?

Thanks...

Presuming a limb is not twisted the way to correct the alignment is to put a small, thin shim from a pop can on the side of the limb pocket bottom where the pivot point is, probably next to the ILF fitting you can tell by the rub spots on the paint in the limb pocket. Unstring the bow, snip out a shim about a inch long and a half inch wide and just slide it in along side the ILF fitting to raise that part of the limb tip, might need more than one shim as they are pretty thin. If that does the trick then use a little contact cement to hold them in the pocket. This usually will work for a slight twisted limb, let me know how it works for you...warf

I have a Proline riser comming for some KAP limbs I already bought, and all I can say is I hope mine turns out as nice as yours. Which is questionable since I am probably going to try and do the conversion myself. I noticed that you shot vanes instead of feathers which did not occur to me but I guess you can with an elevated rest.

TBHNTR,
I get about the same increase in draw-weight as you do. I have a set of 46# 'Short' Samick Master limbs that produce 60+ pounds on my Proline riser. They measured 63# on a hand-held spring scale and the limb-bolts were not screwed all the way in..... I imagine I could get another 2 - 3 pounds from them but I don't want anything more than 55# max. So I had to back the limb-bolts WAY out to get the weight to 53#.

I don't remember the name of the thread, but FWIW, on one of them (I think it was under the DAS category) DAS wrote the following: "When swapping limbs you must remain within the guidelines for limb preload, namely that they should not exceed 12 lbs above the H25 rating at your draw length."

I tried Bob's pop can trick on an old set of hoyt talon limbs I have. Worked like a charm.

I tried the pop can trick, but couldn't get enough shim in there. Then I tried my other limbs and they were straight, so I tweeked the limb in question for about 20 seconds and now it lines up just right... hard to believe it would be off from the factory, but it was.

Also, I'm going to back the limbs off a little to 58 lbs. per DAS's recommendation... I did find the link on the DAS forum.

Which proline riser(s) work best for warfing? I have access to a Force II and would like to know if that one works ok.

I don't know that much about the models, but if it looks like mine, it's a good one. some prefer the risers that don't have the diamonds on the sides of the limb pockets, but I guess they work too. Bob Gordon is the real expert and you should PM him with your question.
