What do you suggest for arrow weight for a DAS shooting 53# for elk, I was looking at a 160 Gr Simmons landshark but what weight shaft?
Thanks

elk chaser........i'm getting great flight with classic beman 400's cut to 29.5 for a 28" draw with simmons interceptors ......150 vented and the 165's up front ......the 150's comming in around 511 to 513 gr total weight......back end has 4 fletch 60/120 bananas at 4"............i'm dead on out to 23 yrds with hanks angle illusion........just a yellow ball going down range......gap beyond 23 yrds isn't severe and pretty much have it figured out to 40 yrds......i'm using screw -in adapters .......alum.....feel that this is the weak link though i have never had one bend on me. after the season i plan on playing around with arrow weight [ little heavier maybe ] maybe try a glue-in broadhead adapter and i want to try the screw in simmons 195 interceptor with just the alum insert..........that would give me an arrow with the 400's
around 519 grs ........really front loaded but i have never found this to be a problem with carbons and the penetration is in one side and out the other.

now i'm shooting this combo out of a 56# bow and also my 47# bow.....great arrow flight from both and out to 20yrds .......i use the same sight picture.........elkdreamer

elk chaser........i probably shouldn't have jumped in here with my setup.....guess i did it because i'm a simmons nut.......but i'm not shooting a das [someday]..........after thinking about this over night.......you need a das shooter to speak up as they seem to get away with a lighter arrow than i would be comfortable with shooting the chastain...........sh@#....i used to shoot 740 gr arrows untill i joined this forum.......talk about knock down power...........i do think you can really get away with a ton of poc using carbon and still get great arrow flight........just don't know what the das shooters would be comfortable with shooting the big heads.....elkdreamer

Assuming you are shooting at 28" I would recommend the Axis or Beman Slim Tech shafts in the 400 size. With that simmons head the finished weight should not be of any concern. elk Dreamer was right on with his reccomendatins. My wife and I both shoot DAS bows. David will send you a complete lists of arrow shafts and sizes and a summary of how they will shoot out of your bow at your draw length. I think Jim Pritchard shoots a DAS at about the same weight as yours and I am sure he will chime in at some point. He had good success with his bow in Africa so his experience is based on personal sucessful experience in the field. :)

My Das is being made now, I am currently shooting a Mathews Hertitage at 50# daily to keep in pratice.
I am planning to go Elk hunting this fall with the Das and I am just trying to get a head start on "components" I will be shooting a Simmons head but what weight 125 or the 160's I am leaning heavily on the 160's
Talking to David the Das @53# will be more than enough for Elk.
My draw is 28.75 so I will probably be closer to #55 :shooting:
