I just put a bid on a 23" hoyt Matrix "bare frame" riser as a possible replacement for my Mizar which just seems to cramp my fat little hands a bit. this is literally a bare frame no grips, bolts, or anything. Any idea what will be involved in locating and getting the neccessary fittings for the limb attachment system?? In a worst case I can cobble up a grip. this may be an exercise in futility since it'll probably go for more than I am willing to pay

You can get a new rosewood one from Lancaster for $25 or a plastic one for $17, or order a custom one from that guy in California (can remember the name) for something like a hundred dollars. No doubt you will opt for the latter (LOL).

I have a Matrix. You can get the grip and the trick limb bolts from Lancaster or Hoyt. If you want them in this lifetime I would go with Lancaster. It is the same grip Hoyt has used on most of it's late model recurves, Avalon, Elan, etc. You will like the riser, makes a fine shooting bow...warf

DWS,

I was lurking on that one too. Looks like it needs all of the stabilizer/counterbalancer bushings too as well as the limb allignment stuff. Looked like good deal when it was at $35.00. Now it's getting up there with all the hardware needed. Are flame jobs traditional? :)

When was fire invented?
It'd be more acceptable than the pearly hot pink metallic Mizar if that was a concern------I'm gonna have to put that'un on the photo gallery. The Mizar shoots well, but the grip area is a bit small and the front edge of the riser in the grip curves forward to the stabilizer bushing. I normally shoot with a high wrist but when not actually at full draw it cramps my hand a bit.

It looks to be totally stripped---literally a bare frame. the grip is something I can make myself, its the various bolts and bushings that I was concerned about. that could well run the cost up even more.

Yeah that was my only complaint on the mizar riser I had was that it cramped my hand a bit. That was the reason for my custom low rise grip on mine, but I like a lower grip. BTW just got a new Hoyt riser warfer from Bob. I love the grip on that thing.

I have a new mizar riser but don't shoot it because of that silly tight grip.I have small hands and it is still too tight for me.

Look at the paint job on the riser. It looks like the lower part is primer. Wonder what the story is with that one?

I'm also about to buy a Mizer for my 12 year old daughter. I hear they work real well for the kids because of the light physical weight.

I'll start another post asking what the experiences have been with the Mizer.

Thanks,
Lane

James if you don't mind a low wrist grip pop that grip off and shoot it off the riser or make a custom split grip like I did. I can send you some pics from the one I did or you might look in the archives.
