This past few weeks , as a man some people call "Pope" neared death, I noticed quite a strange situation........
I noticed the mass media coverage which pondered the questions of how the "church" could cope with not having a man some called "Pope" give certain blessings. I noticed how it was pondered as to the future of the "church" without the "leadership" of this man called Pope. I noticed certain people being interviewed profess a desire to simply touch this man's garments, or look upon his face before his death, or kneel at his feet, so that they could be comforted.
I noticed certain stations providing the history of this man some call "Pope". I noticed that people who called themselves Christians, called this man "holy father". I noticed the ornate trappings of the Vatican, and the ornate robes, clothes, jewelry, head gear , and status symbols of the "church officals".
I noticed the reports that millions will "pilgrim" to Rome to visit with this mans corpse. I noticed the special 'masses", rituals, relic worship, and religous prayers, and pleas to dead people. Just a few minutes ago, I heard a reporter in Rome call this man, the head of the church. I noticed how this man's position was equated to the suffering of Christ.
However, what struck me the most, is what I did not notice........ :2cents:
