View Full Version : ILF plates
I recently purchased a set of Hoyt carbon plus limbs on this site, they are set up for ilf.I have a real nice rambo handle from Sam but it is set up for das.My son in law has a nice hoyt pro vantage riser with an early set of the plates that was first offered here.Ok,now the question.I tried these limbs on his riser before I convert them to das and it looks like the limbs are twisted, the question is could the inserts cause this issue, maybe installed wrong or something else.I have to hope this is the problem and not an issue with the limbs.I am not pointing fingers in any direction just trying to figure out what is going on.

It could be the pockets in the riser or maybe to much JB weld in one area that has caused the plates to be out of parallel. Some risers are very good as far as being straight and true. Some are horrible. I always set up the riser in a set of vises on a surface plate and indicate the pockets without the plates to make sure the bottoms of the pockets are parallel to each other. Also check the alignment of the dovetails and the limb bolt to make sure everything is inline before epoxying the plates in. There was a thread by Sid that showed how to use arrows on the bottom side of the limbs to check this.

Also, if you need plates, Jspen is da man fo ryou. The riser I recently done for Pete used his plates and theyt were PERFECT!!! This was on a Black Bear.

Thanks guys,I am sure the problem lies in that area more then a limb problem, just didn't know where to start.

How do you know this? Have you tried another set of limbs on the riser? Have you checked the limbs on the riser with a Beiter gauge? If you find that the riser or pockets are out of alignment? Send it back to me for correction!

SAM, I think the limbs show crooked on the other riser, not the one from you.
Sam,I never said anything about your riser.I said I tried the limbs on another riser because the limbs were set up with the ilf and before I changed them over to the riser you built I wanted to try them out.Sorry for the confusion.
