Gents -
Just talked to my friend at the local pro shop. He showed me a letter from Hoyt saying that with the increased demand, bows (risers and limbs) are being back ordered another 2 - 3 months. Any body got one on order?

Then it is a marketing ploy. Can you say Price Increase??? :sbrug:
With the upcoming archery season the timing is about right..

It's nuts the lead time on this stuff. Trying to buy new risers and especially limbs isn't something you can do in a snap any more. There are a number of factors going into this. First and foremost, it's almost impossible for most dealers to stock a lot of different limbs. That's a lot of dollars in inventory and you still may not have what the next guy walking in the door wants. Also, archery is becoming very popular worldwide and barebow archery is getting lots of attention overseas. They're scarfing up bows like crazy and sales are through the roof for every high-performance recurve manuacturer. All in all, it makes it tough to get the stuff and a 2-3 month wait is pretty normal. It can take six months.

Bout 2 years ago I had an Ultra tec on order. After 6 months i bought another bow. Just recently I had an order for an accugrip for my protec that to this day has never showed up. (Its been 4 months and still counting)
I really love Hoyt equipment, but I will never EVER buy anything from hoyt unless its used or sitting on a rack in front of me. I know of Two National level shooters for Matthews (both friends) that gave up the waiting Game with hoyt, and went elsewhere.
I guess they are comfortable with this, as its been the same ol', same ol' for as long as I can remember. Too bad, they really do make some of the best out there.

I'm cheap... :p ... I just buy used stuff mostly.
Picked up a real nice Hoyt/Easton 36" stab for my target bow the other day for 10 bucks.

I just can't see dragging a bow with a stabilizer and metal handle through the woods hunting.

There is a thread on Archery-Forum (Australia) about the best maker. It went on for a couple pages and was running something like 10-1 for Hoyt. There was also a discussion on Archery Talk about the recurve being so much more popuar in Europe (and for that matter the rest of the world) than in the US that Hoyt's priority for shipments of risers and limbs go overseas.
I bought one of the earlier sets of Hoyt's new M1 limbs from Lancaster. Archery shops in England had already had them and been allowing customers to shoot them (their pro-shops do that). You may think Hoyt's policy isn't right but I see it as something else to thank compounds for.

Marketing ploy?
Somehow I doubt it. I think this is a normal increase in interest in archery gear (esp. recurve) following the Olympics. I wonder if similar shortages ocurred after the 2000 and especially the '96 games. This year's turnout of adult male O.R. shooters in Louisville was the biggest it's been in a while. Lots of first time O.R. shooters. Seems they heard about "some guy" who made the Olympic team after a year with the O.R.... ;)

Stratagy, a follow up after a big event like the Olympics is a fine opportunity.

Another factor may well be the current Dollar situation on the international scene. it is so weak and the Euro etc are strong so any smart business is sending as much product as possible overseas---too bad we cant get rid of our polititians that way too.

PB, you should broaden your horizons... didn't ya know? a 36" stab is very versatile... can hang clothes out to dry, use as a walking stick, also good for parting mayapples when searching for morels. ;)

Remember that thread about tip protectors? With a 36' stab, you don't need one. Just rest the bow on end of the stab! :)

Part of the reason Hoyt is so far behind is that on of their CNC machines that produces risers went capooy. They got behind and haven't recovered. Having said that, the quality of Hoyt products is really disturbing. Having seen what I've seen, I'd think twice about buying anything of consequence from them.

I've had a cable guard on order from them for nearly two months "A CABLE GUARD." for a long fingers bow I set up. Sheesh I've been a long time Hoyt guy but that is crazy. I incquired the other day about some CRX limbs. The shop is supposed to call them Monday to see about the lead time.

I know of someone like that :) . I'm just putting the finishing touches ($$$$$) on a starter olympic rig. I'll post some pictures when done.
