How hard do you think it would be to glue together some nice pieces of wood and carve out your own riser and form ILF limb fittings? I don't have room in my small apartment for a hotbox so I was thinking of doing this so I could heat treat the glue in my low tempature oven. Would be a fun summer project I think. Just a crazy idea I have though of, haha.

It would not be hard to do. What do you want the riser to do? ILF or straight bolt down? Laminates of hard wood and phenolics? Tell us what you want to do?Bet we have some suggestions and help for you!

Well I'd like to make it ILF so I can use multiple limbs. And probably a mix of woods to make it look all purdy. I personally have absolutely no experience with this whatsoever, so any help is greatly appreciated.

I was also thinking about making a limb jig for laminating and curing in the oven...If I can make this all work I could make my very own bow, I've seen all the materials on 3rivers. Might get kind of pricey for what I want to do though, ha.

One of the advantages of the ILF platform is that you can just make the riser and get anyone's ILF limbs and put them on the riser. Best to start out small. Binghams is a good place to look for supplies. You can get complete bow kits or buy parts to put together your own design. They sell riser blocks made of different types of wood so you can mix types to get the look that you want.

Here is Binghams website: http://www.binghamprojects.com/

If you are looking for ILF plates to use in a riser, look on Lancaster Archery/Tradtech: http://www.tradtecharchery.com/

This a link to a guy named Savage that did a buildalong for a take down recurve bow Stickbow, he also posted one of his bows in the Bow Project sections on this site. Worth a look, because he shows all the steps needed to complete the bow. His bows look absolutely beautiful.

Someone else can tell you about making ILF limbs.

Have fun with whatever adventure you choose to go on.

By the way, welcome to the the best archery forum on the net. Lots of good folk around here willing to help in many ways.
