View Full Version : Gloves
I have run into a problem. Most of the time I just hunt in some cotton gloves. But the elastic in the wrist is almost ruined after the first hunt. I would like to find a good quality pair of cotton camo gloves. Anybody have any recomendations? Thanks.

I used to use a pair of black leather baseball gloves. I never could get used to cloth gloves with a bow.
I also have never found a pair of camo gloves that were very good quality. Of course, my budget may have been a stronger factor in that then the fact that they were camo. I liked the ball gloves. They hid my skin and still allowed good dexterity.

...some nice thin fleece goves at Wal Mart for $2/pair. Better and cheaper than cotton. :)

I used black batting gloves last year myself. This year I picked up a pair of camo gloves at Academy Sports that have a leather palm and a cotton back with a velcro strap like a batting glove. I think I paid $6 for them. They're still leaving black die on my hands from the leather but I expected a little something extra for my $6. :)

Wal-Mart is EVERYWHERE
I bought a pair of the 2 dollar gloves too!!!
I just wish they made a glove with the honey-comb rubber lines on it in camo to keep the bow from slipping in the glove. Some that have a little strip of leather sewn on work pretty good but the rubberized honey-comb stuff works great and also helps while pulling arrows from the target.
Spend the money BOHO and get some of the Mechanics gloves they work well also and they are hard to find but some are even insulated... :)

I don't like leather... holds too much scent.
I don't like fleece... too slippery.
I don't like rubberized palms... too grippy.
I like cotton jersey... j-u-u-st right.
BOHO, how about some plain cotton gardening gloves that fit nicely? Might be a bit more lasting than the cheap camo hunting gloves. Or maybe some of those yellow-colored (dye 'em black) fuzzy cotton work gloves, one size smaller than you'd normally get them.
When you figure it out Boho, get me a pair too.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll look into some things and I'll try some this week. Cato, I'll get 6 pair. 3 for you and 3 for me.I know how we are. LOL

to keep the fleece from being too slippery is put a single layer of the cloth camo tape around my bow handle. Works great and doesn't change the feel of the handle at all. :2cents: :)

After dropping the girls off at scholl this morning I ran to wally world and bought a 94 cent pair of realtree camo jersey gloves and a $9.83 pair of remington shooting gloves with leather palms and cloth uppers.
Give me a few days to do some shoitng with both and I will give my oppinion of both. Both of these fit nice and close and should work under my tab on the draw hand and also feel good holding the cold bow grip. We'll see.
I looked at the $2 fleece ones and really did not like them. Part of it was that none of them fit me very well. Me and baggy fuzzy gloves don't mix. I need to have enough dexterity in a glove to at least piclk up a tooth pick or I feel real clumsy and fumbly. Shooting a bow that way would feel real dangerous to me. Wether it was dangerous or not it would really mess with me psycologically.

...Idea Man???? I just do what works for me and like this forum as it allows me to share what I do as well as learn from all of you without the BS that is prevalent in other places.
Actually when I was about 14 and sitting in the woods with my firberglass Paul Bunyan bow, a half dozen wood arrows of different lengths and various broadheads, dressed in denim jeans and a similar jacket I wondered if anyone had ever thought of making clothing that looked like tree trunks.....
I guess ideas are only good if you can do something with them. :sbrug:
