View Full Version : Bob Gordon's buck! The "Little Feller"
Esquire

Bob sent me an email with his buck, taken today. All I can say is WOW! What a brute! In typical retiring Bob Gordon manner he informed that he'd shot a little one and was enclosing the picture I'd requested (something like that). Here it is, along with the story in his own words.
Mike
Mwarfike...Caught this little feller following some does, he walked right in front of me when I was on the ground at about 30 yds and never saw it coming. Arrow passed thru behind the shoulders and into a old stump he is about 200 lbs dressed, 13 points and 23" inside spread, pretty nice whitetail for this part of the woods. Bow was a warf of course on a Black Bear riser with W&W Winact carbon limbs 56 lbs at my 32" and a 400 gn Easton ACC carbon with a two blade Magnus, buck ran wide open for about 80 yds before running into a tree and falling over finished. Rather nice morning hunt!!...
man what a pig. good going warfmeister. :highfive:

Wow Bob! Definitely one for the wall.
I have only seen one from this area that nice and it is hanging on my dad's wall. He shot it about 35 yrs ago and has never seen another one that nice since.
Not only is it a big rack but it is a very pretty one. Well done Bob.
Ray
Congratulations Bob! That's a beautiful buck! Ran into a tree?? So did the arrow kill him or did he kill himself trying to get away??

WOW! What a beautiful chocolate-racked bruiser!
That buck is worthy of puttin' a tape on those beams and pointy things.
Looks to be an easy 180 gross score.
Nice goin' there, Bob. :)
I've been thinking about ya the last week or so,
wondering when a bruiser would meet his end out there in Idaho land.
Geez...............that thing is a monster! Way to go Bob.....congrats!

Ray..We have a lot of pretty big bucks here, zillions of acres for them to roam on and very little hunting pressure, also close to a 50, 50, buck doe ratio in my opinion as I see about half bucks of all sizes, that makes them travel even more as the competition for does is pretty heavy, also gives them a pretty good case of "rut brain fade" so your chances of getting a arrow into one goes way up, kinda nice ...warf

Holy Moses! Is that a reindeer? Sure Santa isn't missin Blitzin? I had to take a good hard look at the face on that deer to see that it indeed had the markings of a whitetial.
13 points and 23" inside spread, pretty nice whitetail Heck, wouldn't be bad if it was a mule deer!
Man, it looks like it was one of those situations where it was either him or you and lookes like Bob came through that one relatively unscathed.
How the heck did you get that thing out of the woods?

Lambow...Yea, the real Warf has got to be in the middle of everything, gotta be careful or he will bone it out for ya, he's a top of the food chain consumer of about everything...The red slash spot the neck is a recent cut from fighting, he has one up by his ear on the other side, like to see the buck that whumped him!...warf

I aint buying it!!!! Everybody knows them "TARGET" shooters can't hunt and fall to pieces when the get a shot at something with hair on it!
Congrats Bob! I'm close to having killed as much antler this year myself....all I got to do is kill another buck and my 3 will be as big a rack as your buck :)

HaHA, that was a good one Rod...
don't know how many times I've heard that from "hunters" that think "target shooters" can't do it in the woods, LOL.

Rod...I thought everybody knows that hunting shots are just practice for target shooting...lol...warf

Yeah, its a well known fact(just ask on some of the other forums) that good form and practicing beyound 17.3 yds, is the kiss of death to a hunting archer :) I bet Bob didn't understand that an elevated rest and them little bitty carbon arrows wouldn't work in the woods :p

Monster buck, Bob! And at 30 yards, a great shot. I was wondering when we would hear about the Warfmeister's season. I know you mentioned being mostly a "meat" hunter, but it looked like opportunity called. Have you gotten anything else this season, like an elk?

You guys thought Bob was just being modest, didn't you. Truth is he probably had to pass on a few to get one that he felt would be easy enough to drag. He told me his freezer is about full and he's getting tired of hauling critters that are about the size of a Chevette.
Still, not bad for a small one, Bob. Kudos to you!

wow bob, a buck like that might make me forget about the no smell, good eating thing!
fortunately i probably will never have to make the choice!
great job as usual! i still have an elk to get. have you got your's yet?

Larry..Got a 3/4 size cow last month (last years calf) not much for bragging rights but mighty fine eating. When it comes to elk the first one that gets close eneugh is going to get shot at. The small ones are easier to get out of the woods anyhow and don't have those darn horns to get hung up in the brush and cause all sorts of problems!...lol...warf

11-29-2005, 07:53 AM
young cows are what i hunt! got a nice fat doe in the freezer thats tasting good.
are you getting any of the snow now? had 2" or so last night. did'nt come near the prediction. right now it's 20 with freezing fog.
Bob Gordon
11-29-2005, 08:27 AM
Larry...Yea, it snowed last night and this morning, three inches, lot more to come, 30 degrees, looks like winter had finely came. Nothing like a nice young elk for good eating, the big buck I got I think is going to be a years worth of dog food, he was pretty old, nasty smelling and all rutted up, not the best combo for prime eating. Guess I will have to stop shooting those big whitetails and go for the little forky's and spikes. (yea right!) Shot a big doe a couple years ago and thought I would have some fine table fair, wrong, this old gal didn't even have any teeth left, the steaks were about as tender as a hocky puck. I guess you just shoot'm first and worry about the eating qualities later, works for me...warf

Congratulations! Awesome buck and from Idaho to boot. Always knew there were good bucks up North. Too bad it is a 10 hour drive for me. Kind of rules out hunting from the house. :)
Just a very light dusting of snow down here this morning. Suppose to get more laster today and this week.
Yours for better bowhunting, Kelly

Kelly...Thanks on the congrats. We have a few of those nice whitetails up here, just have to dig them out of the brush, pretty smart deer. Tough to hunt something that is smarter than you are....warf
