I might use a blind, but will probably stay a bit mobile for these IL turkeys. The setup here is quite similar to the one that worked well back in Iowa years ago. They work an open field that is West of edge cover near a creek. During the morning hours, the edge is dark and shaded when foliage is full-out. Edge cover is like a hide-behind wall about chest high. Makes for easy stand-up shooting when they're on the dekes (all easier said then done of course).
Will use the 50# warfer with some heavier, fatter shafts for maximum shock power and some very large, 3-bladed heads with rubber band wrapped on shaft right behind the head. Calls? I take 'em all - my favorite slate, new but broke-in double-diaphram yelper, and of course my cedar box for early morning cuttin'.
I noticed something at Dick's Sporting Goods recently... turkey wings designed to flap against something to sound like turkeys flying down. What a waste of money, slapping gloved hands against legs fools 'em just the same.
