Today was the last day of bow season here in Ga. Tomorrow, muzzle loader season starts, and lasts for 1 week, then modern firearms opens. It's not that it makes much diffrence to me, because no one else hunts the places i do,(or not supposed to be) but i'll have to hunt with that blaze orange vest the rest of the season, and use my flash light when it's dark to keep some idiot from blowing me away. I wish our bow season lasted longer, but, there's nothing i can do about that. We would probably see nicer racks, if the gun season didn't coincide with the rut also.
It's kinda sad for me, but that's the way it goes... It wern't to bad a day though.... Killed the 4th one this evening!!

We have 2 or 3 more weeks of bow season here. After that I have to wear an orange hat to and from the stand.I switch in the tree. :) The orange hat is no big deal but some states make you dresss up like a pumpkin. That kinda of esses with your head even if the deer don't notice it like you do. ;)

Congrads on #4. I have 3 more tags for this state and then there is that SC license.

...LOL...I just went out to Wal-mart this morning and picked up a new Mini-Mag flashlight. I was using a dollar variety bought from a dollar shop, but think that my life is worth more than one dollar. The dollar variety wasn`t exactly trustworthy enough.

Same thing happened today in Pennsylvania. The muzzle season opened (in-lines are OK) and we must wear blaze orange to avoid the .50 caliber and .44 calibur musket balls.
We only had 2 weeks of bow only here in PA, so I can sympathize. Now, the hunting is going to get really tough. No more deer feeding in the open fields, that`s for sure.

I'm in SC and was wondering if you have any tips/info for a soon to be deer hunter. Next year will be my first season, and with a trad bow to boot. Any help is welcomed.

I'm gona head into the hot spot of the woods this weekend Piney, and see if the big boy shows his rack. Been letting this little piece of the woods cool down a bit, but there seems to be alot of early rut activity going on here.
Yea, i'd like the 5th one to be a good buck. Haven't killed a bruiser buck since 01. We've had a below average temps here, scraped frost off the windshield this mornin... The rut is close, good luck, and good shooting to all!!

Same here, 2001... rattled one in. Lost a good one to a one-lunger and 'yotes in 2003. Just can't be on all the trails all the time, LOL. Never know when it's gonna happen next, just gotta put the time in. They're starting to bump does around here a little bit now, scrapes should start opening up real good the end of next week.

Warped Arrow I am not really qualified to help you much deer hunting.I pretty much just hunt deer that are hungry. :) I hunt where they eat most times. The best advice I can give someone is watch the wind, sit still and hunt as much as you can untill it is not fun anymore.I tried the trophy hunting and realised it was not as fun.I now just hunt for fun.I have sit from dark to darkthirty in stands, frozen all day and been pretty unhappy as I hunted.A few years ago I changed my ways and now if I get tired of sitting I get down.If I want a smoke and I think I can get away with it I smoke. All the things people say not to do while hunting I might do if it means I enjoy myself more. Not a good person to give to others advice on the right things to do.
I can still fill my tags and will kill a nice deer once in a while but at the end of the day whether it's 2 hours or 12 hours I am generally in a better mood. :)

SC has a lot of deer and in most places where they are run with dogs they are easy to kill with a bow. They get there hunting pressure from the dogs instead of people. The hunters spend more time sitting on roads or feilds and do not disturb the woods. The deer are not really used to people going in the woods after them and are not as spooky because of it.We mostly hunt hogs down there but have seen lots of deer that could have been killed while stalking. That does not happen much at all where I live.My buddy and I call them stupid deer and you can get away with a whole lot of things around them. :) You should have no trouble.
