I had just got in last night from hunting. Nice evening saw a few and passed on one. Fixed a little supper, sat down and the phone rang. Dave Castell who has been trying as hard as he can for the last couple of years to take a deer with hiis longbow (Never hunted and close to 60) was calling and he had a spike down and very little idea of what to do next. Long story short, I went out and helped him dress it out and told him how to take care of it. But I couldn't hardly believe how he got the deer. He had packed up his stand and was leaving the area when this spike jumped up, ran ten yards from him, stopped and turned broadside. He pulled an arrow, nocked aimed with no movement from the deer. He double-lunged it with a slight quartering away shot. He started after it a little sooner than I would have but he really did it right. When he would lose the trail he would mark the last couple of spots then start looking till he picked it up. One hundred yards later he was standing looking at his deer. When he called I explained how to get it out of the woods. So you decide suicidal deer or did Lady Luck decide he had paid his dues after two years. :sbrug:
