View Full Version : Something completely unexpected.
I'm in the process of changing from shooting wooden arrows to carbon. At the local archery shop I bought several carbon arrows to try, at their recommendation. Come to find out all of the arrows I purchased were too light for my bow. Wasted money, and that can get expensive fast. I posted a thread about carbon arrows and received quite a few replies, but because it seems everyone uses something different I still didn't know what to use. "jerbearyukon" notified me and said he'd send me an arrow that he believed I'd like if I'd just send my address. He sent that arrow, and it shoots great. He refused to let me pay for the arrow, the shipping, packaging, postage or anything else. I tried, he said no. He saved me money and the aggravation of testing arrows that aren't right for the bow. He didn't have to do this, he just did it for the good of the sport, and his only request was that down the road, I try to help someone else in the sport, and I will. People like this are what help keep traditional archery alive and well. Thank you Jerry.

Mozy I appreciate the kind words, but if most of the ppl knew what you have been doing for ppl especially those young folks they would be in AWE...seriously.....our world is very screwed up right now and has been for a long time , but ( I believe) if we as individuals just do something everyday to make someone's life a little bit easier I think we can change the way ppl think one person at a time...THROW THE ROCK IN THE POND.
I am not a religous fella, but I am spiritual I guess (nothing wrong with either I think). I do believe that you should treat others how you would like to be treated (MY DAD'S #1 RULE).
Life is to be lived and some have it real tough. But if you can help someone along the way...well I think that's what we are here to do no matter what.
I am just glad I could help you out, but I wasn't looking for any glory ok. I am a simple guy and like you strive to be better everyday....doesn't always work out, but it's a good goal I think.
Take care and I I hope to meet you someday.
Cheers

MOZY - check your messages ok
Surprised again. I'm not going to go into what these people did for me because I honestly don't beleive that they're looking for any recognition. I beleive they did it because of the kind of people they are. Sincerely good people of good character. But I owe each of them a great thanks. More than I can express. I want to thank you Dale and Sandie Karch at 3Rivers Archery and Jerry "jerbearyukon" for everything. What each of you did is absolutely unbelievable. Dale you said Jerry is "one of a kind" an I agree 100%, but so are you and Sandie. Thank you all, I know God will bless you. Mozy

I recently watched (several times, back to back) the movie "The Book of Eli", very powerful movie I highly reccomend, but anyway, in it there was the following dialog:
Solara: I didn't think you'd ever give up the book, I thought it was too important to you
Eli: It was, I was carrying and reading it everyday, got so caught up in protecting it, I forgot to live by what I'd learnt from it
Solara: And what's that?
Eli: To do more for others than you do for yourself.

We need to all help each other and it has to be selfless.
Sand squid I think the saying is a bit wrong in my mind.....I really think it's hard for ppl to help others until they help themselves first. This is not being selfish if you do it from the heart and not for gain or praise. But until you are in a position where you are ok mentally...spiritually (whatever that is for you) and physically then I really don't think you can help ppl properly and with the right intention.
It's just my 2 cents worth.
It's kinda like that ol' saying practice makes perfect.....I think only PERFECT PRACTICE makes it perfect.
