What a spread on those antlers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know the pic is set up to make it look even bigger but that is one heck of a broad rack.
I have never seen one that big in my area dead or alive. WOW!
Swampy,
I'm right there with ya. I haven't had a chance to get out either and my season opened back on the 15 of Sept. I have had to put in a lot of extra work to pay some extra bills that came up on us. Then I was having shooting problems whish turned out to be more the bow than me.
Now I have switched bows an am hitting decently again. I may go out to my dad's place in a couple weeks and get a chance to be in the woods for a while. It has been too warm here anyway for our deer to move during daylight hours.

A DAS bow will solve all of your bow problems. (I am not on Dave's payroll)! :)

I know and i would love to have one...... but the reason I'm making my own is becasue I can't afford anything else right now.
One of these days when I get the braces the, plumber, window repair, replacement dishwasher, and a half dozen other various things paid off I can start saving for one. :) I just got to get some of this other stuff paid off first.

What the heck? It looks like the deer has been field dressed, but he left some parts.
Hmmmmm.......must be a full body mount field dressing. Good idea.

Well that is a heck of a deer, but I sure feel sorry for the guy that shot him.His hunting is all downhill for him now. :) That is truly the once in a lifetime deal there.
I wouldn't be surprised to see that thing in the Matthews bow adds pretty soon. What a monster.

He killed it opening day in Ohio.
17 scoreable point's
He nets green 229 5/8
Typical frame gross is 215 2/8 and nets 203 7/8
For the picture the hunter did a real good job of field dressing the deer so it wouldn't look too ragged also the picture was taken after it had been checked in at the checking station ( notice the metal tag on the right antler)
He is going to have a full body mount made of the deer. As a matter of fact it will be done by a taxadermist in TB4U's town.
I just thought it was pretty amazing to make a kill on such a big buck like that on opening day. My :highfive: to the hunter..

The bowhunter is a Hunter's Specialties field staffer and also on the Mossy Oaks Hunt Team. When you take 16 consecutive P&Y deer, companys are usually knocking on your door.
Notice what is growing on the ground in the photo?
From what I can surmise, reading his posts on that forum's thread... this deer was a product of QDM, well thought-out food plot systems, and the ability to hunt deer with success.
Ray, I believe the antlers on this deer are as big as the photo portrays, not much camera lens or angle trickery going on when seeing the actual measurements. This is a world-class deer. I've taken several 20.5" spread animals before, and believe me... 2-3 additonal inches on the inside spread adds tremendously to the overall magnificence of a whitetail's antlers.
The inside spread reportedly measures 23-2/8".

I know for a fact that is NOT an Ohio deer! I know where every big deer is in Ohio, all two of them, and that was not one of them! Our deer are MUCH smaller that that deer. DON"T come to Ohio looking for deer that size!!!!!!!!!! :) :p :( :cussing:
That looks like tha same buck I just passed up last week. I wanted him to grow bigger. Oh well; live and learn. :help:

QDM? Is that what they are calling it now? I dont live too far away from where this thing was taken-they DO NOT get that way naturally around here. I've seen several pen raised animals get that big. Must be doin some serious QDM down there.
Another question that keeps popping up is why do all these pictures look like photoshop productions?

Many of the large Public Wildlife areas in Ohio have superb cover and forage, including soy, corn and alfalfa cultivated by the DNR. A little research will allow anyone to spend a week in Ohio on a quality DIY hunt with inexpensive lodging, lots of hunting acreage and a knowledge that there are sure to be P&Y bucks available.

Mike, that's what it's been called for a long time. Passing on the bucks that have rack growth potential until they're in their prime. You know how it goes... let 'em grow. When you're managing thousands of acres, it's not all that difficult to let 'em grow when there isn't a huge amount of gun-hunting mortality.
Naturally? What's growing on the ground in those photos is clear evidence as to what the kicker was in aiding the antler growth of that deer.
Photoshopped? For photo quality, you betcha... when it's going to hit most major publications and product endorsements, it's always done the right way.
So Mike, I take it you are skeptical of this being a genuine kill and genuine rack? World-class animals that are taken by hunters every year are always looked upon with skeptiscm... this one is no different, I guess.

Deer hunters / Buck Hunters / Rack Harvesters
Need I say more? :sbrug:

Yes, I would agree with that. I'm a deer hunter/buck hunter... the rack harvesting part for me is based only on the admiration of a deer's rack as it was grown naturally with the only human intervention being that of local farmers growing their crops. My hunting buddy has always talked of food plots, but it never gets anywhere 'cause I ain't interested.
But I am interested in letting the "basket rack" sized deer live another year, not ALL of them mind you... but I'm against taking one if I've already shot one that season. It pains me to see a hunter kill multiple small-racked deer on the same property year after year.

Great photo, but it would look even better if the cams were left out! That deer may have been killed by a compound bow, but it wasn`t a bow. Recurves and longbows are bows...
