Working black palm

Have any of you tried to heat bend Black Palm? I have a piece of it I am wanting to make a static recurve out of. I am wanting to heat and bend the recurve in the palm before laminating it in with the backing and shiyas.

Anyone hav eany experience with this stuff that might advise about pitfalls to watch for?
