I recently purchaced a .380 Bersa Thunder. I know, I wanted to stay with a revolver, but that is another story for another thread.
My question is thus:
If I am getting good groups at 15 yards, then I should get good groups at 10 and 5, correct?
Just checking my thinking.

Shoot it from a bench and a sandbag to confirm.

If it's a good one, you should be able to bounce a pop can at 20 yds, hit a skoal can at 10.

I was wondering cause for my Permit, I have to shoot a 70% (35 out of 50) at 3 , 5 , 7 , 10 yards (10 rounds each) and 5 rounds each at 12 and 15 yards.

Practice dry fire! Empty gun, and learn trigger control. Sit a penny on top of the slide and dryfire till it does not fall off.

I would not think that is a very challenging score but I was surprised when Debbie went thru the CHL course. she was shooting a stock sub compact XD springfield 9mm. scored the highest score on the practicle test in the class. there were 7 or 8 men and debbie. Debbie shoots about once a month. from debbie's experience I don't think you are going to have any trouble with the test.
I have shot the CHL test several times with a customized S&W military police 38 special. i shot the course DOA scoring well in the 90% range. There is no sight change from 7 to 15 yds. the target is a pretty big. the timed fire section for Texas gives ya lot of time. you don't have to hurry. keep track of the front sight in timed fire. where the front sight goes the bullet goes :)

Thank you all for the advice. Coming from a military background, I am well versed in rifle fire. Pistol is sorta new to me though.
Sam, did the dry fire exersize, but with a dime. Not a problem there. Nice even squeeeeze.
Rusty, We dont have a timed test. I am going to get an extra magizime for the Bersa though. Each holds 6, so I figure that if I have 2 and load 5 rounds in each, it will make things simpler.
I shoot weekly with my 9mm, and am now going to be doin the same with the .380.
Any other pistol tips? Any and all advice is welcomed.

WA - oh man if you have been shooting once a week you are a killer :). you are going to breeze thru 70% by a long way.
If you can hold that dime on a little gun's front sight ya might consider going for the record :)
If you live in an area that has some practicle leagues give them a try. they are a lot of fun. well make a good shot out of you (although I still don't think they make a gun fighter out of ya. i think that is a whole deifferent story)

rusyt, I thought you said on the slide....didnt try it on the front post. Gonna have to do that tomorrow.
I try to run a mag through at least once a week, just to keep used to the firearm. I do the same with my 10/22.
As far as I know, we have no legues here, but then i havent looked into any gun clubs either.

two things beside shooting are a lot fo fun at the leauges. 1) ya may get the opportunity to try and shoot a lot of really fine rail guns, custom auto and out of sight revolvers. 2) sometime you can get some great brother-in-law deals person to person on pistols. some times ya get in on a club purchase of cetain types of ammon pretty cheap.
