Robert, please excuse my balky description, but this is how I apply the center serving. Assuming the braced bow is standing between my knees with the string toward me and the riser facing away, I begin my center serving from the bottom and wind toward the top in a clockwise direction around the string. Is this correct? For a right-handed archer? For a left handed archer, would you wind in a counter-clockwise direction?
(Actually, I serve the string with the bow laying across my knees, but the above description was easier to convey the directions involved.)

I can tell you that every string I make gets served and fitted to one or another of my bows before it goes out the door. I serve them on the bows with top limb to my left and bottom to my right. I start at the top of the seving and serve down to the bottom. If the serving is applied properly and with good tension, it will not fail, move o separate whether right or left handed. I think it's a good idea to serve in the direction of the string twist and always do that. That way, twisting the string tighter also twists the serving tighter.
