View Full Version : Where to get warfing hardware and maybe pic's?

I have some risers made up (wooden) and the limbs are on the way.
So where do I get ILF fittings to go into the risers, and what else might I possibly need?
I read the thread about locking the fitting in place so it does not turn by putting a setscrew in...so I might try that.
I want to make these limbs semi-adjustable, since my risers are short, and I want to lower the poundage of the 36# shorts some for the wife...
Also, when adjust tiller/weight, how does that affect brace height, and what should I be looking for? I was thinking about 7.5 to 8" on a 19" riser?
Are there some pictures around somewhere of ILF fittings embedded into risers so I can get some ideas?
Sorry for a TON of questions!!
Thanks for the help and info!

Marc;
If your riser is 19" it will increase the bow weight of the limbs you are using. ILF limbs are weighed on 23" and 25" risers. The only way I know off decreasing the weight when going to a shorter riser is by changing the limb angle. Deflexing it more will decrease the weight, but also, will effect performance and brace height.

kelly,
thanks for the info...I know the poundage will go up, and the limbs are marked for two risers...so my 36's will be 42 on a 19" riser, but I should be able to adjust the weight by 2 or 3 pounds, right?
I have also looked at the ILF bushings, and if I cannot find a satisfactory setup, then I was thinking of using a two-bolt system.
Any pros or cons to that? I'm just providing a pivot point to the bushing area, right?
thanks again!

Marc...There is no available hardware that you can just fasten to a wood riser and bolt ilf limbs onto. You will have to make them, it's pretty easy if you have a welder or a friend who does. I made up a few welded limb pockets out of thin steel and build the risers around them, came out looking like it belonged on the riser and worked as well as the pockets on a FITA riser, weight was adjusatable over about 7 or 8 lbs and tiller adjustable of course. Send me you regular email addy and I will send you some pictures of the limb pockets if you want...warf

Boy, you're a sight for sore eyes!
I'm sitting here staring at what could potentially become a cussing session at myself for damaging a pretty set of limbs!
My email is: marcrobin@netzero.com
I greatly appreciate your help! And I do have a round-about way of fabbing up some fittings, but is there any merit to a two-bolt system, or can that potentiall harm the limb if the weight is adjusted more than a few pounds?
Thanks so much, Sir!

A double bolt system is a bad idea if you want any weight adjustabilty, it will put a bind on the thru bolt and stress the limbs to much, it's pretty easy to make a FITA type dovetail in a steel plate to accept the limb dovetail. All it takes is a couple of good measurements, a hack saw and a file and your done and have a rock solid system that will allow weight adjustment and instant limb takedown without tools. Will send you some pictures tomorrow. What I do is make a screw on pocket like on a FITA riser that covers the sides and back of the limb butt so it looks like it belongs on the riser, easy to do and looks great. You even can cover the sides of the steel pocket with thin wood that the riser is made out of and it will look like you sunk the limbs into a all wood riser, no end to this warf stuff!!...lol...warf

If you promise to keep it a secret...........LMAO.
I use 3/8" head shoulder screws/axle screws anymore on all conversions I do. They work as locator pin, but since the head of the screw is so much larger than the body it lets the limbs pivot. It works, its cheap and solid.
Just press the ILF fittings out and your good to go

Thanks Mike!
Does that allow you to adjust the limb laterally for string alignment?

Marc,
I make a riser with ILF fitting and made the alignement by try and error. I glue the fitting and mesure the bow, unglue and correct it. Finally, it all is straight. You can see it on "Another wooden warf" sthread.
Bob,
Im also interested in you solution would you please send me some pictures?
