OK I finally got back outside shooting yesterday. I have some now 40# WinEx limbs to try out on the green luxor and a modified higher anchor to try. My first shot at 35 yards did not take into account the anchor difference and hit the dirt. Modified the crawl and put the next one on the bale and the third in the 4 ring (field target). I managed to work out some rough crawls for 30-50 yards before moving back indoors to do a little work with a new riser I picked up for the last indoor shoot in a few weeks.

So who has been out enjoying the nice weekend and shooting?

Pray tell!

(That also means a picy..)

Please.

Spigarelli 650. No pics yet. Nice riser though.

How does the weight compare with your Luxor. I shot one briefly- it's like holding up an anvil!

It fits WA's description of a deer hunting riser. Shoot the animal with it, use it as a club to finish it off and use it as a drag handle to move it.

It is about 1/2# heavier without the included weight than the Luxor is with the weight. Different feel at the shot. The Luxor feels "snappier" I think. I need more time with it really.

Enjoy!

A year ago it was my dream riser. I now think it may be too heavy for my tastes. I'd like to try one again with limbs I could master. The time I shot one it has 42# border limbs on it. I was shooting 28# at the time. It was the best I could do to keep the arrows on the paper at 18m. I had no real opportunity to experience how it shot, I felt like I was being crushed.:(

Shot my season best indoor with the 650 yesterday. I like the way the bow shoots. It is very dead in the hand. It has me seriously wondering how it would shoot with some longs as my outdoor bow, Currently I am shooting it with 36# mediums but not stringwalking as the class I shoot in MAA/NFAA competitions doesn't allow it. Outdoors I walk the string.

Might need to get a set of 38-40# longs.

Aren't longs considered better for stringwalking? If so, that would suit nicely for outdoors.

Yes that was my thinking for longs.

Shot today with my Luxor and got all of my crawls from 20 yards out to 65 yards.

Well I found a set of longs (N-apecs) and should have them by mid next week. So I will will be able to do a pretty good apples to apples comparison between the luxor and 650 as an outdoor bow.

That would be of great interest.

Take notes. ;)

Hi folks, been getting outside with my new NILO / border hex5 longs rig... 46# @29"
Got my crawls down out to 40 meters, here in Norway max distance for bare bow is 50 meters on the 90m rounds, and 40 meters on the FITA 70m round. Field 50 meters on marked, 45 unmarked, and 30m 3D....
Me and the Nilo are getting on fine, still getting used to this string walking, my anchor is not as consistent as when I gapped, when I "miss" (not in the group) it left or right, not high or low... I really have to watch where I place the string blur.....
When all goes well I can stack the arrows in the 6/5 ring of a FITA 80cm face at 40 meters, my groups average about an inch for each ten meters out,,, 20 meters = 2 inch group etc.... so I must be doing something right....
I am using ACC 3.28 (500 spine) with 87 grain points, and 1.75" NAP quickspins, but I have some Kurly vanes on order to try out.... Got my first FITA shoot next sunday, so then I will have a concrete score to look at and find out where I am in the big scheme of things.... my bareshaft shows a touch weak, so I have some lighter points to try too..
I have also been walking the string on my DAS with border hex5 longs, amazing to me that such a short bow with 64# limbs would allow this, but its quiet and oh so deadly.... so for 3D I am thinking of going with a shorter faster bow, 5 to 30 meters means less difference in the crawls so tune wont be so affected, I have just ordered some Win&Win n-apecs, medium which on my Mamba 19" riser will give me about 50# and a 62" bow,,, fast I think! I will keep you all posted :D

Looking good Scott, I had similar experiences tuning my Nilo...

Well I am really liking this new setup so today I switched my cavalier plunger I had on it over to my Beiter. I only have one Beiter which was on my Luxor till today. I spent some time tuning it and had some good flight at the end and even found my 80 yard sight marks. Lots of fun.
