Curious if anyone besides me is interested in anything other than 3D? There used to be a thread for 900 rounds, the NFAA Field & 300 Indoor rounds and even the NFAA International round. They all died shortly after the new board was organized and opened.
In addition to posting scores we could talk about the various forms of competition if anyone is interested. If not...oh well!
Dave
Havent shot a 300 in years or any round for score but I have a set of light limbs for my DAS and after Im finished hunting in December I am headed indoors and cranking up the target mode. Also am thinking of joining another club which just held an animal round for the first time in years. :) John. Also just got on the list for my second DAS so I can keep one set up for hunting and one to play!

Looks like just you and me, John.
My last Indoor 300 was a Senior Olympics event in July. I shot a 264 and won my class. Of course I was the only one in my class (Barebow) so you could say I came in last too.
I don't understand why the NFAA Animal round isn't more popular. I haven't shot it that often but the several times I have it was a real hoot!
Dave
last two indoor round scores were 253 and 257...hoping for 260+ in the next few rounds...but the upcoming events are putting me in senior men's recurve...there is no traditional class
time to give'em hell! ;)

Don't feel bad. The Indoor event I mentioned above had no Barebow Class, which is where I usually shoot. I actually got lumped in with the Olympic Recurves. The guy running the thing took pitty on me since I was the only one shooting that morning without sights and gave me a left over Bronze medal. Not sure what that was for but I guess he ment well (LOL). Since he was trying to be nice I didn't have the heart to refuse it but it doesn't mean much. Oh well...I got to shoot which was the whole reason for going.
Dave
I dont have a problem with the class thing. I feel that I am competing mostly with my self. Trying to improve my shooting and have some relaxation in the process. If I cant keep my concentration on shooting than I better just put the bow away. To me its a great escape from the pressures of the work world. Do I care if I finish 100 of 100 in the top class or 1 of 1 in the "trad" class. No as long as I know im improving and do my best :shooting: John.

No wonder field archery is all but dead and target archery is on the decline. Other than a couple of us, no one here is interested in even talking (posting) about this subject.
Kind of sad to my way of thinking...oh well. I tired!

DA,
I'm not posting much now, but I'm with ya'. I just shot an American 900 today with my barebow rig (a 25" old radian riser with lead in the lower cavities, and the same SKY limbs I took to Athens). Scored 724. Guess that's okay. Only the 2nd Am. 900 I've shot barebow. 1st time I scored a 736. I shoot with 3 very good Senior Olympic barebow archers (including the reigning NFAA indoor national senior champ, and silver medalist), and they tell me that's pretty good. I beat all of them last time, and today. Funny thing is, they usually beat me pretty good indoors on the 300 round.
My league average (NFAA "trad" division) last winter was about 260 or so. Spent a few weeks in the 270's, but it went away as soon as it came.
Today, after we were done scoring, we all shot a few ends at 70 meters, just for kicks. I scored 43, 41, 46 at that distance.
Then, just for fun, I stepped back to 100 yards and shot 10 arrows. Believe it or not, I kept them all on the 122 cm. face, and even shot my last 3 in the red! Surprised myself actually.
We had so much fun, that we all agreed to shoot a clout round with our barebow rigs next month (these are monthly gatherings we have).
That lead-filled radian makes a hell of a barebow riser. I just love it! Bet my BEST Zenit would make a fine barebow riser too, but haven't tried it yet without the fita accessories on it.
John.
i'm excited at the prospect of field archery...and fita events! not that im good enough to make a showing..but shooting that far looks plain FUN! see that arrow haul ass down 70 meters and farther! and i'm gonna compete for the traditional state indoor title this year as well..i feel i can produce the scores to take the series....

I finally got down to the archery shop where I shot an indoor league last winter and found I had a 2nd place dust collector there LOL Since I was the only trad shooter I guess that means some of the wheel guys shot as bad as me LOL
Anyway I figured I haven,t shot and scored from the "line" since I choked/shot at the state,s so I shot one.
First thing I noticed which kinda caught me offgaurd was when I stepped to the line I felt a certain amount of anxity ,still managed to shoot 21 on my first 2 ends and started getting into it when out comes the owner with a costomer loading the wheel bow in the hooter shooter right behind me ........click,click,click,click I,m shootin figurein this things gonna go off right behind me....anyway in the 2 ends they where there I got 4 -3,s and a 2.One end was only a 16....dang that stuff isn,t supposed to bother me LOL
Anyway I finished off with a 251 ,the only warm up was that I fired 3 arrows down range at the backstop before walking down and putting up my target.
Still shooting my 58# hummingbird longbow with beman cllasics in the 400 size 29.5" lg with 125gr up front.Split finger instincta-gap

John,
My "indoor" bow is an old Elan with a weight added where the stabilizer would go. I have shot a number of 300 rounds in the 270s, in practice. Seems like competition always deflates that to the low to middle 260s (LOL).
I'm just not good enough to shoot a full FITA barebow but I do enjoy 900 rounds (both metric and American). I think your 724 & 736 scores are impressive. My best in practice has been 722 but again, come match time the wheels fall off and it's into the ditch. 687 is my high FITA 900 while I managed a 708 American 900 in the Senior Olympics.
With a couple of Best's weight kits added to the lower riser I bet your Zenit would make a great Barebow Recurve. I shoot best with my Spigarelli loaded with all the weights the factory makes, then I add another 12oz weight I got from DAS Kinetic in the stabilizer bushing. Sets very well in the hand.
swampy,
Congrats on the 2nd place finish. The last indoor match I shot, I was the only one there with no sights and they lumped me in with the Olympic recurves. Those guys were having a bad day and I managed to come in 3rd with no sights against the "sights, stabilizer & clicker" crowd (shot a 263).
Still wish there was more interest in field archery. I just can't figure out why it is so dead. Perhaps like me it's time has come and gone (LOL).

While I,d like to see field archery come back I think it,s a time thing these days.I know I,ve been wantingto get down to our club and get it re set up so I could shoot it but I,ve had a hard enough time finding time to get down there for the 3D shoots ,so far I,ve only made 3 of those 1 of which I didn,t score from the compound stakes.
Heck Sat was the first I,d been to the bow shop since early spring.I mostly just shoot here in the shop on my 1/2 hr lunch. This weekend is our club,s championship shoot and I,m the defending champ........it,s actually looking like I,m gonna be able to shoot after all.I originally had other plans which may still happen but I don,t know yet.
Take care TomM

Swampy,
I went out on my patio and shot the NFAA 300 round this morning. Hadn't shot it since July and was pleased to shoot a 268. Did it right with half the ends on a high target and half on a low target.
Shooting my old 40# Hoyt Elan, three fingers under, with 2214s weighing 497g. They drop right in the middle when I can get that whole bow arm/release/follow through thing right (LOL).

Thats sweet DA,I hadn,t scored 1 in awhile because of no targets LOL shot a 131 yesterday on lunch. It,s hard to shoot a full 300 round on my half hr lunch and still eat.Actually it,s hard to eat and shoot for score at the same time but hey ya do what ya gotta do LOL
I,m lookin forward to breaking that 270 mark now that I,ve been into the 260,s funny how goals change as ya move along.I was originally planning on getting where I,m at and maintaining now I wanna get better still :) actually thinking the 280,s aren,t out of the question some day. Won,t those wheel guys shi? when I start beatin them even up LOL
Apparently I,m already beating some of them which is kinda sad in a way but that,s not my problem.
I really got get our field course set up or at least find some time to get down there and shoot some long range. My form is coming around but still needs work,I think long range might be the ticket
