Finsished my league Monday and the final score are back and I won first place. It was an indoor 3D league. I didn't really enter with any aspirations of winning just wanted to shoot and have some fun. Nice guys and I didn't get any flack for my "untraditional" metal riser bows. After a few weeks I began to realize I had a chance to win the thing. The final week came down to me and two other guys. I was in first at that time and outshot them both. Averaged around 110 out of 120.

Thanks to all the TT members for the suggestions, help and info both here and on the old site. I don't think I could have done it without ya.

Oh yeah first place prize is a pheasant hunt in a few weeks. Yum Yum!

Scooter,

Way to go!!!

Did you just when your class or overall...including compound shooters?

How many targets per round?

How many rounds?

Distances...shortest and longest?

Your total score for all the rounds?

Score 12, 10 , 8, 5?

Shooting style?

Sighting style?

Bow's poundage?

Arrow weight?

LOL...you don't have to answer all of those, but the more info you can give the better ;)

Ray ;)

BW,

Let me see. Just one class "traditional". Recurves, longbows all together. Two rounds of twelve targets each for twelve weeks. All 3D animals. 5/3/1 scoring. Possible 120. I averaged around 110. Targets ranged from 10-20 yards. With a few "funsy" 25 yarders tossed in at the end. I used three bows though the league. My Gamemaster, my "sniper" fita bow and my new warfer. All metal risers off a flipper pluger compbo w/stabilizer. Arrows were around 400-425gr. I shoot three under off a sight picture. The GM and warf are around 50# and the fita bow was 60#.

Scooter,

That is some Saaaaweet shooting! Averaging 110 out of 120...that's almost perfect ;) You're averaging above the 90% level, which most 3D competitions are won at the 80 to 85% level.

Well I decided to update this old thread as I won again this year. We had a little longer league this year. Last night was the final night and going in I had a slim lead but as it ended up I won going away. The guy I was vying with had a real off night so even with me not shooting my best I clinched.

This year was a different deal than last year as I started out shooting a longbow and wallowed around 4th or 5th with some really subpar shooting. I decided to ditch the longbow and go back to recurve which I am better with. Started out with a Quinn Stallion that I had bought cheap off ebay (nice bow) and immediately started shooting better and digging out of the hole I had dug. With about three weeks left I received my DAS and started shooting that. I immediately shot a personal best and then followed that up with another new PB the following week. That was enough to put me in front and I basically needed to just shoot close to my average the last night. Ended up averaging around 112 a week for the two months.

Same first prize as last year.

Congratulations, Scott. I knew that you were a good shot, but it looks like you just keep getting better every year! I finished my league middle of the pack again this year. I was in fourth place midway through and developed target panic right after that and struggled the rest of the way. I am currently working to get back in form. Like you I shot four different bows during the league. I guess if I really wanted to take it seriously I should have just shot the warfer. By the way, my friend Joe that we shot with at Compton last year got second place shooting one of the longbows he made. Once again congrats and enjoy the pheasant hunt.

Thanks Marv,

I've been really trying to work on my alignment as of late which has caused my draw to increase about an inch but my shot seems to be much more consistent. I just need to continue to work on the back half of my execution. I felt like I was a better shot than what my scores were showing in the first few weeks and thus the switch back to the recurve. Guess I'll leave the longbow stuff to the Steve Morley's and Redbows of the world.

I remember Joe and also that he was a pretty good shot. If he only got second you guys must have had some fairly stiff competition.

Like you there is a core group of guys here that when the speak on some topics of shot execution and or equipment I take notice. Not every item or tip works for me but quite often most do. My statement from last year still stands I do not think I could have won this league without the help from the trad talk group.

Thanks Chad. Glad to see you got your axis. Hope to be there again next year but a bit more competitive.

Hope to see you all at Compton.

Scooter,

what kind of shooting is this? Is it a 20 yard 300 round kind of thing? What are your best scores? I am just now trying to do these. It is pretty hard to be consistent for 60 arrows.

Typical indoor 3D 20 yards max. Scoring was 5/3/1.
