221 Rem Fireball

Bought one in a CZ 527. Ordered a Burris Timberline scope for it. Anyone here shoot a 221?

Why a .221 instead of a .222 or .223, Sam? Just wondering...

Several reasons.
The 221 will push a 50 grain at 2900, a 40 grain at 3200 and do it with almost half the powder charge, 400 rds. to the pound of RL-7. Quiet, like a 22 wrmf on steroids and is a half inch or better gun due to the inherently accurate cartridge. Coyote medicine, and Crows on the ground with 40 grain V-max bullets. Besides, I already have a 223 and 222 bolt guns in the little 600 remingtons. LOL
Will scope it up tomorrow.

HEY-NO KIDDING I have a guy in KS trying to sell me a .222.5 this week.
It's a .222mag with shoulder mashed back a little between normal .222REM & .222mag.
Fireball is cool, buddy of mine has one, the Rem with skinny fluted barrel.

I'm quite familiar with the symptom, too. I used to have that disease myself until I moved to IL. The centerfire bug subsided a bit since it's tough to find places to shoot them here, let alone hunt with them. Plus, you can only use rifles for varmints.

Hi Dave, I'm still thinking on the .222.5; I'm packing a contender & 1911 to the gun show this weekend to maybe raise some cash for it.
SAM Li'l Gun is good stuff, I used to use it in a .22 Hornet, and the fireball's a pretty similar case capacity, but better.
