Danny:
Those are three real trophies. What were the shot distances?
Tell me about the shot on the eland and recovery.
I leave for Namibia in about three weeks and am
really getting jacked! I have an eland on my list.
Regards,
Jim

:thankyou:

Jim, I shot the eland at 15 yards with a Wensel Woodsman head. Arrow hit 8" above junction of leg & body. Broadhead stuck out other side. Bull ran 50 yards, stopped and fell over. I shot an eland last year with similar results. They go down easy if you hit them good.

I shot the sable at 15 yards too. It ran about 170 yards. They are super tough animals and can be aggressive.

I reached out on the waterbuck, about 30 yards. It is a world class animal. The bull ran about 150 yards and piled up.

Here is some more of the stuff. The monkeys attacked and scared away the nyala bull I was after. Where are you hunting in Namibia?

Thanks for posting the pictures Denny..To get within such close range of those animals must be difficult as wary as they must be of man and predetor.

Were the monkeys as tough to get into range and hit?

Congratulations on such a succesfull hunt..

Congrats Denny! Beautiful animals! How much did that eland weigh? That thing is huge!

David, Mature eland bulls weigh close to one ton. We didn't weigh this one but he was hard to move around.

tuffshot, I shot most of the animals from blinds as I was trying to get video and it is the easiest way to get good shots at trophy size animals. Stalking is very doable though on certain species and lone bulls. If the cover is thick you can sneak along and get good shots too. Just hard to say what animal you will encounter.

Those stupid monkeys were attacking :) I shot the first one at 10 feet and the other about 15 feet. There was around 100 of them. They took off when two of their pals hit the dirt.

Denny, what a dream hunt for sure. Congratulations on much success. I just gotta know... where the heck you find room to hang all them critters when ya get 'em home? With this last trip, you're gonna have to put on your carpenter's hat and make more space. :)

Das, Everything in that room was taken by me with a longbow. My Dad started me young on the bowhunting and I've never even tried gun hunting for big game.

My wife keeps her stuff in the dining room and the oldest boy keeps his in his bedroom. It's a good thing my wife enjoys "fine" art.

Kelly,

Great to have you out here. The pictures show up as links in the body of the message, so if you do not see them, you may have a problem with a pop up blocker or browser. Send a PM to Lumis, and maybe he can help you.

Go to the member list at the top, open it, look for Lumis, and you will see an option that says "send lumis a private message". He's one of the real techy guys out here and usually can figure it out.

Hey Kelly, Wecome! Are you back in Wisconsin? I had hunting pics on this thread, but When I posted the game room pics they went away. I don't know for sure what I'm doing. Nothing new about that.
