View Full Version : Free Will - Where do you stand??

This thread probably belongs in the "watering hole" but I want the record clear.

The reason I have not introduced my children to this film is not merely because it is too preachy about environmental issues. It is not even because the movie was not well made, or even that it was full of tired cliches.

No, the real reason they have not seen "Free Willy" is that we have been busy with other things. Better things.

How about you? Where do you stand on Free Willy???

Mike,

I'm not sure I understand the question. When I saw the title of the thread I thought "Oh me, here we go!!!" But then I read the post and now I'm scratching my head. Who is Free Willy? And you make reference to a movie you haven't allowed your kids see. Is the title of this thread also the title of a movie?

I'm with Bill on this one Mike. Knowing you as I do, I am at least suspicious that you have cast a spinner in the hog trough to tease Bass that have nowhere else to go.

I have seen Free Willy, ( Bill, Willy is an Orca, bound in captivity by a mean spirited Sea World type tourist attraction against its clearly stated and communicated will and it seems from the film that the only oceanographic empath is a little boy that outsmarts the FBI and every other law enforcement and 2-bit security guard he encounters to orchestrate its freedom back to the sea.)

It’s a B film at best created for the soul purpose of propagating the concept that the only real wisdom, peace, balance, and purity is found in nature and all things natural and that the vulgar imposition of the human being on this planet is a pox that must be eradicated in order to restore tranquility. It shamelessly uses children as heroes and cast all adults as mindless baboons haplessly bounding through their pretentious existence unaware of the perfectly obvious and self evident truth that all manner of life will cease to exist on this planet if this wale is not released.

Having said that, I still do not know where Mike is coming from.

Did I mispell the title? My goodness...

Of course I'm talking about that old propaganda film, "Free Willy."

I haven't seen a movie, other than the kids movies for our grandchildren, in probably 20 years, or more. So this one buzzed right over my head. I guess this old Bass bit on the buzz bait, so to speak! :)

Well, all I know, is that if he is going to be saved, its only going to happen if He is chosen by God. Deeds don't get people saved, let alone whales :p

esquire, I saw the movie quite some time ago, my take on it was that willy was indeed free, yet bound by that which confined him :D

He has chosen all of us to be saved. It is man who has pushed Him away starting in the Garden of Eden. Yet He loves us so much He gave us an "out" through Christ our Lord. George

Jawge,

:amen: :amen: :amen: :amen:

'Tis so sad to see the gospel presented in a manner that is not scriptural and that can be achieved only by supplanting God's words with man's words for the purpose of attempting to establish his "belief" as biblical doctrine.

Interesting you should ask such a question Bill. From a man of your theology, the “US” should be crystal clear. Understandably you are going to answer that you KNOW who the “US” are, certainly beginning with yourself and ending with no lesss than other likemindedness, but before, you do, think for a moment, for your self, not what others have taught you, but from your own Biblical study. Then answer, who is the “US”.

I’ve been here to long to discuss theology with a Messiah complex. I have found when associating with the unteachable heart, I tend to become a little less teachable myself. It is a casualty of debate. No offence intended but I never tangle with a tar baby. I have asked you two fundamental questions, one of which you ducked and the other you offered, as expected, a trite retort. The god you identify with is a Monad not Trinitarian. We do not share, even at the most fundamental level, a communicative vocabulary, without which meaningful discussion is nothing more than semantics.

Thank you, but no thank you.

Now Todd, that is a very eloquent, albeit typical responce. You see Todd, you have not come here to teach, or preach the Gospel, for you offer nothing yourself, but rather you simply come here to profess "thats not what I learned about Jesus", and make charges at those who do teach. When someone refuses to answer your questions in human terms, opting instead for the use of Scripture, you cry foul, and suggest avoidence. Well, Todd, I am avoiding you in a sense.

The sad fact is Todd, is that you have dwelt among "tar babies" so long, that you are "stuck" to their time worn, post Biblical teachings, and any suggesting of cleaning up the "tar", with the Solvent of Gospel results in an unpleastant outcry, because like Kerosene, the Truth of the Gospel burns, especially if it gets in the eyes of those who have lived in spiritual blindness for long periods of time.

Come what may, the Gospel still must be administered.

Shalom!

Those of us who have repented and come to a full knowledge of Jesus Christ as our Savior and our Lord which means living Mathew 25 in all its implications. Jawge
