Ran my first organized race today. The crim race in Flint, MI. It was a 5K race with my son in a jogging stroller. Had a ton of fun and passed more than passed me. Should have done the 8K. Oh well next year.

I would be lucky to have finished in the shape I'm in. Sounds like you are definatly ready for deer season. And won't need any help dragging out the big one...

You pushed a stroller? Wow! You must be in pretty good shape. I've been running on my treadmill for several weeks now. Yesterday I ran outside for the first time this year. I got a late start on the running and it has been so hot.
That was a wakeup call! Boy that concrete sidewalk is hard. I felt really slow and heavy. But, my time was better than on the treadmill. Go figure.
I'm steadily making progress. Maybe I'll be ready for a race next year. I'm giving my bow budget a dollar for every mile I run. That keeps me motivated and gives me plenty of time to save. New DAS = 1300 miles give or take depending on options and limbs. I need to work up to 25-30 miles a week or it's going to take forever and Dave's wait is getting longer.
Anyway congrats on the race and your dedication. My son would have been yelling "Faster Dad! You can catch that fat woman with the walker and the oxygen tank! What are you, a sissy?" He weighs about 50 pounds now. I'd leave him home if I had to push him.
What I need is a stroller with three sets of pedals so I can throw all my kids in there (4,5&7 years old) and just hang on for dear life. Then I could really cover some miles. I'd be like a dog tied to a car bumper. I don't know where they get their energy. I suspect nuclear fusion fueled by enriched sugaranium.

Yeah it was a ton of fun and I'm really glad I took him. I was the only guy and one of only a handful of people with a stroller. He's two now and around 33lbs. Next year he might be a bit to heavy. BTW we finished up at just over 31 minutes for the 5K run and right in the middle of the pack for our age group. We probably could have done a bit better too, but it was hard to maneuver that stroller through the pack sometimes.
That's a good goal to set towards the new bow. Writing it out here on the this board is a good way to add some incentive to it. I'm a big believer in writing goals out or even speaking them out loud to friends and family. Sometimes it even catches you by surprise how cool a goal sounds when spoken out loud. Good luck.
