I am still experimenting with the right lining when using carbon arrows.
The recent lining was made of handle bar grip closed cell palstic, being quiet, wear resistant and easy to handle.
When it got worn (the friction and noise incresed all the time) I decided to exchange it. I used the cut off ends of new carbon shafts to get an impression what might work better. When trying the soft part of velcro tape the shafts seemed to moove with a lot less friction (hand testing only).
Using velcro I got now 1/4 to 1/3 flyers and considerable noise. Arrows feel faster though.
I do not like leather, at least those I tried because of the terrible noise. What do you use for carbon arrows?
Please note: all carbon shafts are not alike, many have a varnish (Vapor, Beman) and others are apperantly ground in a drum mill Carbon Express... thus plain carbon. The latter causes the frictionto increase considerably.
I would appreciate any comments, even if I am probalbly going to exaggerate 'carbon mystery' now.
