Does anyone wear a face mask while hunting from a tree stand? And if so which type, loose or tight fitting. I have used one in the past and feel that it caused a bad shot by not allowing me to get to my anchor properly.
Also saw a couple of shows on the outdoor Channel where the guy was in a blind with the shoot thru type openings and he was wearing a face mask. That one kinda struck me funny as he was already in a whole body mask :sbrug:
If there are any good facemasks out there, let me know. :thankyou:

Oh boy, now I'm really gonna give up the goose on this one. LOL
Yeah, I wear a face mask alright. First, it's kind of cold out there in the November wind on stand all morning and sometimes all day... complete windstop on the face helps with staying power. Secondly, and the part that will brand me forever UN-traditional... it's a Scent-Lok complete head cover! Yeah, you betcha!... I've got 3 of them and rotate 'em during the week. And on top of that, I buy a new one every year. And that's all I'm gonna say about that. :p
Regardless of the type of face mask, just gotta practice with it on enough to be confident with it.
I've been wearing a half ninja mask by Primos. I pull it over my nose, and they holes that are supposed to be for the eyes then hit the corner of the mouth, leaving a hole for touching anchor. I wear a hat and pull down the brim.
It may not be the best, but it works fairly well.

How about a good ole fashioned bandana, worn bandit style? That should break up your outline, is still light and shouldn't interfere with anchor.

I've worn face masks for years. Mostly one called a "pro mask" I believe. When a deer came I could pull it easily down and out of the way. Last year I played around with a gaitor type mask and stocking cap. I liked that even better and intend to get a light weight gaitor for early season this year. Oh both set ups are scent loc. Scent loc makes a skull cap type head wrap that I recently bought that I will probably use in warm weather too.

In the old days it was the Bear make up cream. Ever stop at a restaurant in black face? People stare.
Actually I have several face masks and seem to lean towards the leafy kind. They are light weight and cool. As the weather gets cooler I go to heavier weight ones and have two that are scent lok types. When the weather gets cold out come the fleece ones. Sometimes I will actually wear two of the spandoflage ones or at least one of them as a base layer on my face...old ones are good for that application. Last year Laura and I tried the neck gaitor type and like them for the cooler times of the season. I think it is very important to camo your face as well as hands.
By the way, even though I have stopped wearing the blace face people still stare at me in restaurants. I don't get it! :)
I used to wear big loose fitting headnets. It's good for the extra camo that I need and it keeps the skeeters off your face. Everywhere but your ears. But now that I have a thermacell, I might go to face paint if I can find some that washes off easy.

I still remember when I was young the guys using the military camo paint sticks or goo in the little metal cans or tubes. Then somehow it became the new camo for the public but it was hard to scrubb off. The old military stuff wore like iron.

Yep I wear a face mask too. Mostly just the netting type to 1/2 eliminate face shine and 1/2 to ward off the mosquitoes. Mine is a full head net and I wear my camo ball cap over it to help keep it where I want it on my head.
I also pull the eye hole cut out down under my nose. Just more comfortable to me and keeps it from sliding up to much on the draw or when you turn your head. Netting is so thin it never interfers with the anchor.

I also wear a gilie suit with matching head "net" but its much thicker in areas. I just trim the "gillie" off my anchor area and all is well.
I also trim it off the inside of my entire bow arm for string clearence.
Just in case...

Boho,
I've found that "Uncented Noxema" cream works good for removing camo paint. Rub it on with your hand and wipe it off with tissues or a paper towel. It works for me..... I usually use face masks but during hot afternoons I'll use face paint instead of a mask. - John
