Gitmo it works no way to get to them, no practical hostage scenarios if the take Cubans hostage who cares.. So gee Prez Hussien what is your problem. I live less than a mile from the Charleston Naval brig, if I went one block over and stood on the roof of the middle school I could see it. No value in taking school kids hostage, right la Bambo. If they have to come to the US, I say then send them, to Nancy, Alcatraz, little paint, few curtains. if they take Frisco hostage who cares.

Why do hostages have to be taken near the prison?

I think liberals have been plenty dumb concerning Gitmo.
But what you said doesnt make sense.

So you think our higher security prisons are easy to get out of?

Wingman no they don't have to be near the prison, but some of the libs say they will be put in remote locations. Pedello (sp?) was held here. I used the school as between it and the brig is a new farm equipment storage holding yard and then a wooded area. On the other side of the brig are docks and a large paper mill.

Okay, terrorists are going to take hostages to force us to release their compatriots? You do realize that even if they remain in Gitmo, a terrorist can take a US citizen hostage here or anywhere else and demand release of the prisoners and transportation somewhere. A terrorist doesn't have to see the jail to do this sort of thing, they know about phones and such you know. In fact, the heightened security around the jail would make doing something like this nearby irrational, even by their standards. Reminds me of signs right out front of pentitentiaries saying 'don't pick up hitchhikers'. If someone breaks out, do you think they are gonna stick around to hitchhike? In that situation, in front of the jail gate is likely the safest place to be located.

There is a very good reason to not bring terrorists to American prisons. If we ever end up releasing them we might be stuck releasing them here.

The reason suggested in the original post on the other hand is laughably silly.

The Senate has blocked it's closing anyways. Campaign promises that were blatantly impossible to fulfill in a way that would be politically safe. No one wants them in their backyard period, unless they are hanging from a tree.

Sorry I didn't make my main point I don't want anymore of them in my neighborhood.

Should we move the terrorist back to the U.S ??
Kinda like housing a bunch of rattle snakes in a play yard, ...dont make sense to me. But liberals seldom make sense to me. I'd rather not have that much potential danger close to someone or something I want to protect.

Who was it that said "keep you friends close and your enemies even closer"? Frankly, all the fear mongering as to how dangerous these guys are is only helping build their mystique. We can’t keep some criminals locked-up? Give me a break.

I would just remind everyone that the point of terrorism is to induce terror because they know they can't actually win the fight. Therefore, I try not to be afraid of these guys. If they were to move them into a jail nearby, I would be okay with it. Of course, I don't have kids, yet, so that may be a factor.

I'm not afraid of them either, raisins
I think they should turn them loose in New York and then put a bounty on them. The boys in the hood will do the rest.

I'd say they're pretty smart too.......they've managed to dupe half the population into believing in a political system that does'nt work.
Being smart is a far cry from wisdom.

Flatbow1..of course you think you and those similar are wiser than others, otherwise you would change your belief system and then think the same of it. Likewise, I bet you think your favorite type of ice cream is the hands down best as well.

Raisins, I'm conservative because conservatism [ real conservatism] line up more with what I believe in.
I'm not conservative because I want to line up with a certain group of people.
Liberalism does'nt work. I can look at many decades of liberal, failed tactics and conclude that it does'nt work. If I wanted to start a bussiness, and I examined a certain practice that had a history of failure......I would conclude that it does'nt work.
Why would I KEEP ATTEMPTING, over and over to make it work???
It would'nt matter how much I beleived in it, it aint gonna work. NEVER WILL.
But, I will say this.....there are certain politicians who claim to be conservative, who are really just a milder version of liberals. It is good to have different opinions and ideas, but if those ideas and opinions keep coming up lacking, what should one conclude?
There are a lot of people I know that are liberals that I like, I know some homosexuals that I like, but I dont agree with them.
I know there is an absolute morality....absolutely. Our founders were not all cookie cut individuals, as it is today. But liberalism has certainly undermined the basic principals that has held our nation together. I know that most liberals are nice people, not all conservatives are nice. My mother-inlaw is a liberal.....I like her a lot, I just dont want her to hold public office.
It's a good thing to have some liberals around....to remind conservatives to stay on their toes. LOL.

They wrote a letter urging the US military not to use the bomb on a civilian population. When know how successful that was.
