Hey Everybody

I'm pretty new to archery, and I was wondering if yall experienced archers had any exercises that would strengthen my pull back strength, so I could hold the arrow back longer and pull a higher poundage bow? If yall could give me some advise I would be very grateful.

Thank you
Darrell

Also, if you have access to a bow heavier than you want to shoot, use it also. A weight lifting bow.

Dumbells will help. The weight of them can be increased as strength increases. There is a wide range of exercises that can be incorperated for specific muscle groups. Strength comes with muscle density, so bulking up is not totally necessary. Just remember to equalize both side of the body with the same exercise.

There is an old tape around called "Archery Fitness(Pulling Big Bows)". If you can find this tape and follow it generally with a measure of caution, you can add a lot of pull weight. It takes about 30 minutes a day for six weeks. Part of it uses your bow along with a chest expander and grippers. I will see if i can find a source for the tape.

The tape was advertised in "Traditional Bowhunter" until about 2000. I could not track the phone number today.

....also try a low grip if you're not doing it yet....bone to grip contact makes pulling much easier vs a high or medium grip....
