I personally believe any born again person has them all.....and as we walk with the Lord, He brings our gifts to the surface so to speak as we allow Him to use us for His glory.

I tend to believe like Joy. Every Christian has gifts. I don't about all of them but certainly some as the Holy Spirit sees fit.

Our entire church took a Spiritual gifts inventory last year and it was really neat to see how many people were serving in the areas the inventory said theirs lay.

Charley, from what I have been lead to beleive through prayer and teachings, the gifts come through our willingness to let the Holy Spirit work though us.

There are many people who will tell you that this gift is for you and this is is for that guy because that is their nature. But if we are out in some remote place and neither one of those people are around and a certin gift is needed who you going to call ?

Case in point;
Once in Peru I was in a small church in a village where the Shinning Path had members durring the time when allot of trouble was happening. At this meeting and associate pastor from our church was speeking through an interiputer and after the preaching he started laying hands on the sick and those who wanted prayer. I was sitting there next to him watching and praying. He motioned for me to get up and join him. I have never spook of this before anywhere, the 1st lady who walked up to me clasping her hands tight against her breast and praying fell back on the floor , out cold, from the Holy Spirit. All I did was tought her forhead and had bearly got a toung out of my mouth and she dropped. I was taken back by this , I have seen it happen but have always been skeptical. The Lord used me in many ways durring my 5 trips to Peru. And I learned much about the gifts of the Spirit.

Ray she was the 1st of many who fell out as I layed my hand on their foreheads and were slain in the spirit. I have not been back to that village. Perry and I must have prayed with these poelpe for 2 hours or more. It seemed the place would never empty out. It was only a small shack but they keeped coming. My faith grew that day and I was truely blessed.

9 of them (in the new covenant, there were only 7 in the old). 3 groups of 3 each.

The power gifts. The utterance gifts. And the revelation gifts.

Word of knowledge, word of wisdom, and discerning of spirits are the revelation gifts. These involve knowing or seeing something. (also sometimes hearing or smelling)

Working of miracles, gifts of healings, and faith (better called special faith, where the power of God kicks in to do the job over and above "the measure" of faith we all receive at the new birth) are the power gifts. I call them the "verb" gifts because they're matter of doing or being.

Prophecy, tongues, and interpertation of tongues are the utterance gifts, where something is spoken under the unction of the Holy Ghost.

They're all here and they're all available, "as the Spirit wills". And it instructs us to "seek out the best".

I think that all the gifts are available to all. However I think it really is the Holy spirit who is the originator of the gifts, but we can deliver/use the gifts.
Some people seem to get strong in a particular gift but I really don't think it is really their gift. I think they just get good at delivery and develop in that area, including the sign/wonder type gifts. For example I was natually good at throwing a baseball and football when little. good enough so that I may have made pro if I had developed my skill. but I did not develop those skills beyond grade school. I think that many others who did not have my natural abilities went much farther in sports than I did because they kept at it and had good people to show them how to get better.
The Bible says that God is able to to more than we could ever imagine, according to the power that works in us!!! Thus I would say that all christians have amazing potential/power in them from the moment they are saved. How much of that potential works out is up to us as we yield to Him and learn by the word and experience.

So far in 23 years of being Spirit filled, the gift of Tongues, the Gift of Knowledge, the gift of Wisdom, the Discernment of spirits and a couple of others. There are also a couple that I have not had yet.

I find that one must "Earnestly desire the Spiritual gifts"


Earnest = serious in purpose or effort, diligent, zealous.

Desire = wish or long for; crave, ask for; solicit; a wish.

I paraphrased above with "seek them out." It should be a longing inside us, a desire.

I haven't much experience with the gifts, except for discernment of spirits.
That one I have had maybe 20 times, probably because I have a fair amount of time ministering deliverance. As far as the other gifts, I have only given 3-4 prophecies in 15 years!
Physical healing once to my left knee, instanteous healing from a cracked knee and 1 time the Lord removed 100% of the pain a friend was having due to a motorcycle accident. Never been able to receive any tongues though, ...??
