I have been using flemish twist strings for so long that I wanted to try something different. I have a couple endless loop strings amo 58" for my Hoyt td2 hunter. Both strings are from a different makers and cause brace height changes. My question is can you safely twist a loop string as you can a flemish if so how much. Seems like old scool used strings straight? Thanks John :help:

1bjd -

Yup. Just twist it in the direct that tightens the center serving, not loosens it.

Viper out.

The only reasonable limits seem to be when it becomes difficult to untangle the string for it twisting about itself when you unstring the bow, or when there are so many twists the string behaves as a spring and you start loosing speed.
Both have happened to me. I usually have anything between 20 and 50 turns according to string length and brace height, but once had to go up to 65-70 turns - that's when I "discovered" thast springing action.

Went ahead and twisted one of the endless strings about 10 complete turns. Seems like the twist went into the loop? Shot ok just looks different. John Thanks

1bjd,
You can put quite a few twists in it without any trouble, but if you go until it begins to become bound, the strength of the string will be compromised. I would think 40 or 50 tops, depending on the string length.

Until it kinks up on itself like fishing line does after trolling a spoon with a spinning reel and no swivel, there's no problem. The number of twists is irrelevant, though, because that will depend entirely on the length and diameter of the string. A 64 inch 12 strand D97 string can probably take twice as much as a 54 inch 16 strand b-500 string.
