Some of the Gun dealers are Gouging the ammo prices and causeing Hystaria in my area of Arkansas. Had one of my friends call me tonight and tell me to buy 22 ammo at Wal-Mart since it was 30 dollars in Sringdale for a 550 box of Federals. Maybe they do have something in common with the Fuel gougers. I do not know if the Ammo Manu's are raising the price or if it is the dealers. 22 long rifle ammo does not have the shelf life of center fire, so if you buy a bunch seal it up in something. Oblama, Obomba, Oreno, Oh Janet are you man?

I don't think it's gouging Sam. Ammo is in very short supply. When the demand out runs the supply of anything...price goes up. That's Economics 101.

I have a good friend who, as he puts it, works in the military/industrial complex. He has told me for the past year or so the ammunition plants here in the us have been running double shifts, 24 hours a day to produce ammo for the military. Commercial/civilian ammo takes a back seat to that and production of ammo for us folks has gone way down.

Add the scare of Obama's election to the mix and I would be surprised..no, amazed if prices hadn't gone up. I just wish I could find some of the stuff I want.

Like gas, it will come down as demand does. Never run with the herd. Handload and buy components when they become available at reduced prices. My brother has been casting lead lately. Personal rule of "High and Tight"........When things get high, I get tight....;)

I think it will too. All the panic buying of late has caused some supply issues, but I think it's starting to ease off. I was happy to note that my local wally world has the Federal bulk pack (550 rds) .22 LR back in stock at $13.48.:)
My Ruger 77/22 plinker/truck gun loves the stuff...

25 years ago CCI Mini-mag .22 long rifle rounds were 3.29 per box of 100. That $30.00 sounds like the premium target ammo....
