by papabull about ballistics of traditional shooting pertaining arrows.... i still dont understand his concept..... trad is about instinct not ballistics... if the arrow is to heavy it wont fly right, to light you will always shoot left or right... with a lighter or heavier arrow you know at the same yardage that you need to compensate minutely for arrow drop...... this isnt ballistics.... its instinctive from shooting a lot of arrows and learning skill.... i have never been a TRAINING WHEEL BOW fan and never will be... but instinctive is instinctive; no ballistics invloved........ what do you think.........:2cents:

What I think is you don't understand what "ballistics" are. In the case of an arrow it is primarily the flight of the arrow, flatter at higher speed, more arching at slower speeds. Learning to shoot "instinctively" is nothing but ballistics.

He said it before I could. Shooting anything is about ballistics and instinctive shooting is no exception. Instinctive is just an aiming method. The ballistics don't care what aiming method you use. Projectiles traveling at X speed with Y-weight and Z drag will have XYZ trajectory. Aim the arrow, don't aim the arrow, shoot without a care where it goes and the ballistics are still the ballistics.
Understanding them is crucial to making sure the arch of your arrow intersects the target you intend to hit no matter how you conceptualize it or think about it.
As an aside, it could be argued that trad is about shooting longbows and recurves. Instinctive shooting is just one of many methods of aiming employed by people who shoot these traditional bows.

It's all about ballistics- whether or not you make a study of it is another matter. For myself, doing things like grain matching my POC arrows, noting weight, spine, the effects of point weight, proper tuning, all that helped improve my shooting. It also makes the learning easier when you know why instead of guessing. I see you have some pretty nice, hi-tech bows- especially the DAS bow, the whole idea of a bow like that is to be as precise in setup and tuning as possible, and reduce the variability.
