I got one of those winn winn 360 tabs but was wonderin about the trimming.
On the cordovan side it shows it being trimmed at an angle.I would think that would be from the back side.Is that right??
I can see where this tab promotes a very deep hook, deeper than I normally care for.It puts the string to the second joint very easily.I prefer deep into the first joint does this wear in to that spot automatically or will I need to intentionally put it there. How long does it take to get used to the extra thickness??The tabs I,ve used in the past where realitvely thin and so is the glove I,m currently useing.I haven,t shot it much so far and not shot it at all at a target just a blank bag.I,ll give it a whirl at a target shortly but I don,t know it is a whole differnt feel than I,m used to

Trim it so the layers even out when the string is in position. As long as there's no leather rubbing your face, you're good. Been using the WW for a few months, and no, it doesn't wear a groove. Bull's been using it a lot longer, so he'd know bettter. Nice comphy tab.
You think the WW is THICK ????

Yea it,s alot thicker than any other I,ve used.I just trimmed it some so the leather wouldn,t hit my face.....I can get real used to this one
Trouble with it so far is I just shot 2 of those :cussing: robinhoods
Didn,t only shoot maybe 15 min.s and ruined 2 arrows looks like I need to start with the 5 spot for practice
First 1 was within 1/8" of the 5 the secon was in the X ooooh yeaaaaa I can get used to this tab pretty quick,so much for giving the glove a fair chance
Thanks Viper....anybody else try this tab?? Whatcha think ??

For me so far, it is the best. I'll caution you about this tab's one weakness, in my opinion; what I've come to call "missing screw syndrome". For some reason, if you don't put some locktite on those little screws, they'll eventually work themselves out at an inopportune time like when you're in grass halfway to your knees and have no chance of finding it.
You're not likely to wear a groove in this tab regardless of your hook style. The tab backing needs to be a bit longer than the tab face in order to keeb both layers evenly matched when you are hooking the string. Just like Viper said, as long as it comes just short of your fingertips at full draw so it doesn't interfere with your anchor, it's very comfortable and easy to shoot, in my opinion.
I've had to increase in my arrow and nock budget since using this tab, too.

I tried one of those screaming eagle cordovan tabs once. I liked it, except for the fact that I think that part of it was slapping my lower lip. Is there any particular way to trim it so that it does not catch my lip?

Of course, it's good to only trim a small amount at a time. Keep trimming until your fingers touch your face without the tab touching your face - or at least so it's trimmed enough that you can't feel it against your face at all. A tab can be trimmed to where it just covers the ball of your fingers and still provide a good release and still keep the string off your fingertips. Just keep trimming a little at a time until you like the way it feels. You've got nothing at all to lose by doing that. If you leave it untrimmed, you won't like it and won't use it and it will just be something else to help you fill up your "bought it but hate it" box of stuff.

The trim I was refering to in the distructions(I shoulda just tossed those like most men would LOL) was it showed the cordovan thinned out towards the end cut at about 30 deg. I,m sure it probably doesn,t matter that much anyway.I spent to much time thinkin(that always gets me in trouble) about the tab and puttin the string where I wanted it that I didn,t do so well in the league tonight.I didn,t get it together till the end and by than it was pretty much a done deal only got a 225.
It,s a very good tab,I can tell that already I just need to spend some time with it.I only shot for about 15 min,s earlier today with it and started scoreing without the normal 2 rounds of practice. It also seemed to give a cleaner release I was grouping just over the 5 spot.
Funny thing it wasn,t long ago that 225 woulda been good, now it,s bad LOL
Keep at it folks it wasn,t that long ago I was happy to break 200

Does this tab have a spacer or is it a three under tab?
I have been making my own for years just cause I never saw any without spacers or notches cut in them for sale locally. I cut mine way back, they don't cover my fingers till the first joint in the open hand position.
I've seen the Cav's and such in catalogs, but didn't think I needed to spend money on something I could make.
After reading some of these posts, I am intrigued though. I want to try anything that might improve my shooting.
I know you can't spend your way to the top, but good stuff is good stuff, where can I try one?

It does have a spacer and from my very limited experiance with it so far I,m thickin it was worth the 20 bucks I spent on it.
When I first tried it on I was skeptical and put it back in the bag and shot with my glove. After a few shots on a blank bag I figured I,d give it a whirl and while I just started useing it it does seem like a top notch item to me.
Good luck with what ever you use

How much trouble did you have keeping the spacer all the way back in the slot or didn,t you need it back. For me it slips forward and then the metal plate digs into the side of my face

Do you have the finger belt secured well? The buckle design makes it easy to snug it nicely every time you put it on.

I took a look at a Cavalier tab a fellow was using at the range last week. I liked the feel of the metal plate at the base. So anyone have a picture of this W&W tab? Sounds like it's similar to the Cavalier I looked at and also maybe the Angel tab that Robert has in his TradMall Store? (with the exception of plastic plate instead of metal)

And it's much smaller and less blocky than the plate on the Cavalier. The huge aluminum palm plate on the Cavalier was uncomfortable to me, whereas the smaller plates fit much better and I didn't feel like I was going to scrape part of my face off with them. The Cavalier, in my opinion, is most suited to an under-the-chin anchor.
You can see a pic of the W&W at www.lancasterarchery.com

Thanks for descrip PB. :)
I'm going to start a new thread about deep hook release based on the difficulties I'm currently having with tabs.

Maybe you can be the pioneer here for that. It's might not be real tradtiional but it's a few thousand years old, so you might get a free pass for it.

Thanks John... what a nice website they have. Lots of goodies to slobber over, as I'm a newbie target shooter.

Yea I kept checkin to see if the strap was loose. With the spacer all the way back in the slot it rides against the V of my fingers and when I grip the string it pushes the steel down tight against my palm but it is also pushing the spacer forward. It doesn,t start to lean out to where it hits my face till I,ve shot enough that the spacer slid forward.I think I,m gonna put a pc of leather shoe lace in front of the slot so it can,t slide forward and maybe replace the cupped washer with a star washer.Hows that sound ??
Piney,It seems like a nice tab to me and the way PB anchors it probably doesn,t do the same thing as it does for me.When I have it adjusted the way I like it the steel seems to help keep the back of my hand straight thru the release.MAke that the first section of finger straight with the back of my hand.Hope I exsplained that ok.Anyway it does repeat quite well and I,m pretty sure my fix idea will work for me.Your hands may be differnt and you,d hafta adjust accordingly
Thanks
