View Full Version : Can I take the handle off Black Jennings?
Hi,
I wanted to give my Black Jennings (same as BB) warf a new paint job.
I started to think if (how) the black plastic grip can be removed? There are no screws... I tried to pry it away, but quit, as I did not want to break the grip...
So: can I remove it, or do I need to mask it when sanding and painting?

I don't know, but it is a good question, because I would like to do the same thing with my BB. If you find out (outside the forum) would you let me know.

They are held on with two sided tape. You can pry them off, but you might mark up the grip.
At the base of the grip you should see a space between the grip and riser. insert a flat screw driver and gently pry up. I have not seen tape . there should be two nubs that snap into hollows on the grip.

OOOPS Sorry, SLR is absolutley correct. I was thinking tape because I use it when I reinstall the grip. :mistake:
I do remember once finding tape under a Proline grip though, but it might not have been original...

SLR has it right, just gently pry it off. if it's real stiff run some hot water over the grip and riser to loosen it up a bit, they all will come off, it's just a friction fit. BUT...these are old risers and a lot of people had done a little of this or that to them and I have seen more than one that had the grip epoxied on, if so it's there forever...warf
Many thanks,
Will see what can be done ...
