This weekend I shot in our State FITA Indoor tourney. That is two FITA 600 rounds (60 arrows shot on the 40cm multi-colored target) from 18 meters.

Only three barebow recurve shooters participated and one was a guest from Texas so he was basically shooting for fun. Well he had quite a lot of fun 'cause he handed the other two BB shooters their hats (LOL).

That tall Texan was none other than gitnbetr who posts occasionally here on TradTalk. Out of the possible 1200 points he scored 1001 with his big old pink, 5" feathers on some long, camo aluminum shafts. Mike beat the next BB shooter by 27 points...I know 'cause that was me!

It was a pleasure to meet one of the TradTalk family and I hope one of these days I can go to Texas and return the favor. (smiley face goes here)

Excellent shooting Mike,
Dave

I picked up a bow for the first time in 15 years. Shot FITA half round, practice of course, and shot a surprising 274. Still not completely tuned. Kinda proud of that. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys at future shoots.

Welcome welter5. Always room for more in our little internet family.

That's an impressive score, at least among my acquaintances. What were you shooting?

I have a Winstar II with long T-rex limbs. 34 lbs. Using Beaman 630 arrows. I have the bow set up in Olympic trim.

When is the State FITA this year, Dave? I'm going to see if I can get Rusty there this time. I got a new bow and am getting happy with my tune, which I was not last year. I'm shooting a Luxor riser with 28# limbs and my index finger right under my eye. with full length Cheetah 400's, 250 gr field points, 4" fletching. I think I'm finally beginning to figure out how to do this! I have a new convert, Gene Bohannon, who is really coming along quickly.

ASAA has it listed for January 24th (tentatively) and the location hasn't been announced. I'll post something here when I learn any more.

Dave

PS: The more barebow recurve shooters the better!

I started shooting and joined a club 18 months ago. I shot my first 3 Fita indoor tournaments this past spring. first competition was the Ontario championships I shot traditional and got a silver. I then shot the same Competition barebow and took gold. So I decided to try the Canadian nationals and also took gold. As a newbie I was pretty pleased as there were 738 shooters competing against me in the nationals with barebow.

Do you stringwalk?:)

I wasn't string walking but I recently shot my first 900 round outside, and I'm thinking of experimenting with string walking. Problem is I don't know what competitions I can string walk legally in and what I cant.

I bought a used Win&Win riser and limbs, I stripped off all the sights and stabilizers and clicker. I am using a Beiter plunger which I think would be useful for adjusting spine as I stringwalk. The limbs are 38lbs at 28" but I am 6'3" and draw 30.5 inches for 45lbs.I was using Carbon Express Heritage 150's but recently purchased 2 dozen Redline 460's for a really good price as they have been discontinued.

Thanks for the friendly welcome!

Just for fun, I put a long stabilizer and v-bars on my Martin warf bow and shot a practice 600 round. Ended up beating my previous personal best for a recurve by almost 20 points, shot a 568 with 16x. Might have to shoot it that way for a couple weeks, could make some interesting league scores.

Well the extra weight that made my bow feel really stable and almost like it aimed itself friday night, just felt very heavy last night. That and a jumpy bow arm dropped my score to 534 for league. Might just use my shorter 3d stabilizer for my barebow set up.

Our club is hosting an indoor 600round tournament this weekend, shot a 545 last night.
