I got to go to the Deer and Turkey Expo in Columbus today, it was very crowded, but I did get to see some nice big buck mounts and some nice equipment.

The one thing that I found that to me was way over priced and not needed was a new grunt call for deer. You know the latest a greatest thing for deer hunting that one just has to have. The grunt call was electronic and mounted to the stablizer on the bow with the wire running to the riser handle where the little finger could push on the button to make the grunt work.

50 dollars :sbrug: I thought that was a bit much for a grunt call. It sure seems like the deer world is catching up with the fishing world when it comes to gadgets, and most of the time they catch more money from the hunter that the hunter catches deer :sbrug:

Anyone else find anything that is a bit too much?

All in all it is fun to look around and see what is new and might be useful. I did get to see some bows by a new bowyer in Ohio called Ancient Spirits and he makes some nice looking longbows and recurves. Sorry he doesn't have a web site yet, but he may in time.

I called in a nice buck this fall with the "old fashioned" type grunt tube--didn't get him though. But it was a rush when he came running to "kick my a$$". I thought electronic calls were illegal in OH for everything but predators?? :sbrug:

Seriously Mike,

Don't knock the deer view mirror. Without I would have been busted more than once chomping away on my gum o flage. Keeping my back to the deer while I chew gum o flage has been so critical to my success as a stalker, that I have learned to depend on the deer view mirror to enable me to back into shooting position.

I couldn't imagine scoring a rack with anything else than my trusty .99 cent fabric/garment tape.
... just love that "hands-on" experience.

Hunters are now using heat-sensing devices to recover animals.
What ever happened to 'Ol Yeller?

Esquire--maybe we could use a piece of chewed gum-o-flage as a mount for the rack-u-lator?? :highfive:
