Kelly Peterson - Arrows by Kelly and Kustom King make fine arrows.

You can be sure you will get a higher quality arrow from either Kustom King or Arrows by Kelly than you would from Three Rivers. Don't get me wrong, Three Rivers is a quality supplier, but they'll tell you themselves that their specialty is not wood shafting and wood arrows. They provide the best they can for a decent price, but you will find much less variance in spine and weight and better fit and finish from arrowsmiths like those Phil mentioned.

There were a few guys on the old site that made custom arrows also. Piney and Boho were very pleased with theirs. All of the above suggestions are good ones too. The guys making wood arrows anymore are real craftsmen in their own right.

Mystic, I think you can order a "sample set" from Kelly... 3 shafts, 3 different spines. A great way to really find out what ya need for your bow. Call and talk to them, discuss the type of bow you're shooting and the approx. shaft weight and point weight you prefer.

Remember that when it comes to woodies, the standard for spine is 28" w/125 grain point. Every inch is worth ~3-4 lbs. spine, every 25 gr. point is worth ~3-4 lbs. spine. Heavier point... lesser the spine. Longer the shaft, lesser the spine. All calculated from the benchmark of 28" with 125 gr. point.

Here's another source of arrow selection assistance...

I just received 3 doz. of the breasted hex-pine shafts from Whispering Wind. I havn't done any wood arrows for at least 15 years but got bit by the bug to make some nice ones to go wiht the new Savannah longbow. I have not had time so far to do anything with them other than admire them. Really nice shafts and I suspect that the glued up hex structure will work well. I have seen their products at a couple of the shoots and tradbow shows and was impressed with both the product and the people. They sell shafts as well as some real nice stock and custom finished arrows--straight, tapered, barrelled, breasted, and also footed shafts. (www.whisperingwindarrows.com). I had looked long and hard at the laminated birch shafts at 3Rivers a few weeks ago but they just didn't grab me----too plywood-y looking I guess.
I buy regularly from both KustomKing and 3Rivers and really appreciate the selections they can offer--one-stop shopping (though KK does do their own finished arrows last time I talked with them). However the arrow specialists who do nothing but arrows can offer a bit more custom service. some specialize in specific types of shafting others in the art and craft of their finished arrows. Calling and talking with them or visiting them at shows and shoots is a real pleasant education.

From what I've heard and I'm echoing the others on this -
Rogue River and Arrows by Kelly seem to be the most widely used sources.

Troy Breeding is another good one...

And I've personally dealt with Dale Verts, excellent work...

I get all my arrows from Elite Arrows www.elitearrows.com. Many of the top 3D shooters use them.

Three of the top longbow shooters, Larry Yien, Bill Leslie and Steve Morley, all use Rogue River shafts/arrows. I did not put them in a particular order and did not intend to slight either of them. They are all three great shooters in their own right. I've had wood arrows by Rogue River, Sticks and Feathers, Dale Verts and Three Rivers. Rogue River, Sticks and Feathers and Dale Verts all build very nice arrows.
