Here's how I mounted the longbow limbs to my metal riser.

Works great and doesn't look too bad either.

Did you epoxy the rockers in place or just let the pins do the work? I would be really nervous about drilling into a set of limbs but I've seen several threads with guys doing just that so must be ok.
I'll be adapting a set of limbs to a Hoyt Provantage riser soon and will probably doing something like what you did.
Thanks for the pictures!

BTW, what kind of riser is that?

Bill this is the second set of limbs I've done this to and haven't had any trouble yet. I only drill enough that the pins don't bottom out. I don't glue them in and haven't had any trouble with them making noise or slipping as strung pressure holds everything tight. I've even backed out the limb bolts on the recurve limbs I did this to. Makes it easy to fine tune. I do add thick leather spacers under the limb after I back out the limb bolts. I used to have a Provantage and I even have a set of the rockers that came with it somewhere. I'll see if I can find them and if I do your welcome to them.
The riser is a modified Darton Excel. It used to have a built in overdraw on the belly side that I cut off and then I had a friend with a milling machine mill out the slots in the riser. Works great.

Cool project. Do you have any pics of the whole bow?

I posted some pictures earlier here http://www.tradtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12463
These are of when I first got the bow strung and before the pictures shown here. I've got some finish work to do on the limbs then I'll post some updated pics. By the way metal riser bows ARE traditional here's a quote from someone who enjoys archery history.
"Happen to have a mate who has a Indian recurved bow made of steel circa mid to late 1700's with the original silk string and faint traces of gold decoration still visible for a bargain basement price years ago . Pretty sure the chinese utilized steel bows in the same period and know they used a steel hinge [ folding bow ] mid 1700's . Dont know for sure how far back steel bows would go but another couple of hundred years is probable ."
nice job . If you didn't want to drill the rocker holes in the limbs you could mount the rockers to a flat plate with a slot for the limb bolt. Have the limbs hook to the plate with the single pin .

DRT good idea it would allow the use of a wedge shaped plate to flatten the limb angle. Thanks!
I used a wooden wedge on the belly of a set of longbow limbs that I mounted on a Quinn riser .

Benzy here's the finished bow
64" nock to nock. I really like how this bow shoots, feels in the hand, and how awesomely quiet it is. Way better as a longbow than a recurve.

Repainted the riser and cleaned up the finish showing the limb to bow fit.

Showing the rosewood/fiddleback maple limb. If I hadn't messed up the lower limb by reversing the veneer I had planned on a rosewood with a fiddleback maple flair riser. But I think I'm going to be a lot happier with this. Feels like 50+ lbs at 28". Will get to the archery shop this weekend to find out for sure.
