I stumbled into a good deal on a set of w/w focus limbs. These will be converted to fit my gamemaster riser. I am anxious to report back the results of this setup. It should come in around 49 lbs at my30 inch draw. I am going to shoot Easton lightspeed arrows should make up around 350 grains. This should be fun. Stay tuned.

I've has a set of Focus limbs for a few years and I think they're very good limbs, particularly if you get a good price on them used! That sounds like a great weight for you, too! Good deal!

Geez...With those limbs and your knuckle draggin' draw length you probably could shoot fish arrows over 200 fps. LOL....warf

He's gotta have a real fast arrow because when the sun reflects off that noggin of his the wild game gets real real wild.

I haven't been this excited about a bow since since since well I guess since my last bow. Oh well I am hoping to get speeds up around 220+. Robert I got what you would call a steal on a set of limbs that are used in name only.

Did you guys here something I could swore I heard something? It sounded like a CPA but we all know better than that those guys are way to busy to be surfing the web at this time of year.

I don't plan on selling this setup anytime soon. I can't wait to see how fast this setup is going to be. I am hoping it will shoot flat to about 30yds. If that is the case I am going to have some fun come fall. Should make up a 62 incher nice hunting rig. Get some limb skins to camo the limbs and I should be set.
I will post pics when its complete.

Roby, I think your speed expectations are attainable with the Lightspeeds...

I'm getting 210 with 380 gr. Bemans 50# @ 29".

So, what exactly are these W&W Focus limbs? carbon/wood... carbon/foam?

I'm about to try the same thing only match up a set of short 44# Hoyt FX limbs to my gamemaster.

My draw is 29".

Piney, they are Carbon wood core these were there top of the line limbs for a few years. I really am not the man to be asking about this stuff. I did call Warf and get his view and he told me they were a 9.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. Good enough for me if Bob says its good then I aint worried. I have been told the foam center limbs really aren't any faster. Thats just what i have been told.

I think from what I've read about the foam cores is that the properties of the foam is less susceptible to expansion/contraction during extreme temperature swings. I believe only those that shoot FITA day in and day out would notice such things.

Lane - I'd be interested in seeing some chrono results with your GameMaster and the FX limbs when completed. I'm shooting 340 gr. carbons with 43# @ 29" PSE Zone limbs at 195-197 fps with a warfer.

Roby, are your Focus limbs the 23H-64's ?
and Lane... those shorty FX'ers are 23H-64 as well?

Those W&W Focus limbs you bought (stole) are good ones. Of all the carbon fita type carbon limbs I have crono'd they are the second fastest I have tested on my warfers, only a little slower than my all time favorite limbs the Sky Conquest's. Good luck trying to find a pair of those rare jewels for sale. They should make a pretty fast, smooth bow out of your Gamemaster even though the stock Hoyt glass/wood limbs are no slouch in the performance dept. Looks like a bad year coming up for Miss. whitetails!!...LOL....warf

I'm curious... what type of speed difference is there between the regular Gamemaster limbs and the FITA type limbs? I've got two Gamemasters, 50# and 55#, and I've done some pretty extensive testing with both of these bows. I pull about 28.5" and I have to say these bows are pretty quick. At 8 gr./lb avg. 201-203, 9 gr./lb 193-195, 10 gr./lb 188-190. That's about as heavy as I really wanted to test. Shot a 350 gr. arrow out of my 50# and averaged 221.

I guess the reason I ask is because I've thought of getting a set of FITA limbs and doing a conversion, too. But if it only nets me a few FPS it isn't really worth it, IMO. However, if there's a significant improvement I'd consider it. Keep me posted. I'm really interested.

Pine, that is correct it should make up a 62 incher on the 21 inch riser of the gamemaster. Some have asked why not just get a aerotech and use the fita limbs. Best answer I have is I am in the Hoyt Gamemaster new for $325.00 I will probally sell the limbs that came with it. If I get $50.00 for them I am in that riser for 275.00 and a Aerotech cost about $450 and the shortest it comes is 23 inches. This should make a great back yard shooting bow and hunting bow. 62 inches of tech riser with great limbs should equal a fast stable but not to long hunting machine.

STR8 not 100% sure on the speed difference but will give a full report. I have been told there can be a major difference in speed between a low end fita limb and a high end fita limb. Maybe Warf can give us some better feedback. But I am like you I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't think there was something to be gained.

Bob, the critters down here are in for some problems.

I think I will call this bow a "WARFMASTER"

Roby, Gamemaster limbs list at $280, I recently sold a 50# set of mine for $180 used. I also have some 3/8 od brass/bronz bushings I drilled out to just fit on the Gamemaster pins, if you would like them I will mail them to you for free. Send me a PM with your name and mailing address. I probably won't be using them or if I do I can make more.

Spike, sent you that PM. Thanks for the offer. Also thanks for the pricing info on those limbs. I will sell my set as soon as I am comfortable with the conversion it will lower the overall cost of this project. If I could get $150.00 I would be in the whole set up for less than 500 dollars and the limbs alone retailed at about $450-470. Not bad.

Pinelander,
I don't have access to chronograph at this time so won't be able to get you an idea of the speed. However if I do get a chance to shoot through one I'll let you know what the result is. Speed wasn't the real reason for me doing the FITA limb route. My draw is 29" and when I find a set of long carbon limbs I'm guessing the bow will be a very smooth draw that shoots excellent, and fast to boot. At this time all I found in carbon limbs were the short 44's so I'll start there. They also match the length of the stock limbs so it is a good comparison.

I'm a bit like Cueball here in that I'm only into the Gamemaster for the same $325 and good FITA limbs can be had for a reasonable cost. I'm also heading the WARF route for a good comparison.

My last custom bow I got set me back a $1000. It shoots excellent but if I want additional limbs I'm out $350 a pair with only a very limited used limb market.

With this Gamemaster/WARF combination and 2 or 3 sets of limbs I'm still a bit under a 1000 and that is with carbon limbs and not really looking for a steal on limbs.

I used to shoot a Bear magnisium handle T/D and I really miss that setup. But the gamemaster/warf risers and FITA limbs appear to have more potential.

Warf,

Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black? I do believe your draw length somewhat exceeds Roby's 30" draw, doesn't it? :sbrug: :shooting:
