the cover somehow sets a tone. it seems that a cover should be designed to attrack the attention of the supposed buyers, right? The cover as an advertisement should give you some kinda of idea what you are going to find inside. If the cover is on a catalog, I suspect it would be a good strategy to have the cover reflect the contents and direction of the things you would find in the catalog, right?
Hmmmmmm So if you have a beautiful blonde young lady on the cover of your catalog, what tone is does that set? Ok so she has great form (archery and otherwise), the catalog cover is saying what??? impling what??? what demographic would that cover be directed to???
Not compling you understand just curious at the choices one would make in selecting the cover of a catalog and what the choices would say?????
I for some reason have a hard time taking a tradtional archery catalog seriously that has a picture of a beautiful young lady archery on it. I guess that is my small sexist pig mind tring to grasp today's equal right world and failing.
Oh well, she is pretty. I guess that is a plus

I have had that catalog on my desk at work all this week. Every guy that has seen it has picked it up and thumbed through. If it makes people look [none of these guys are archers] it can't be too bad. Anyway, it's not really a cheese cake shot, she does look like she knows what she's doing.

rusty,
If that riser is more interesting to you than a pretty girl...well, we probably don't have much more to say to each other. (smiley face goes here)

LOL - it is a matter of practicle usage for the investment really. OK OK so I will admit I looked the catalog over from front to back and could not find an order number for the blonde........It could be like a dog chasing a car anyways. if the dog caught the car couldn't drive it very well anyways. besides it is easier to ship a riser and they don't eat much :) AND you don't have to buy a riser a house and a car :highfive:
that reminds me......one time i pulled up into a 7/11 (quick stop grocery) to get a coke. My dog was in the car and went over to put his front paws on the steering wheel to watch where I was going. I had a new car at the time, one of the first ones that truned the lights off automatically. the clerk told me I left my lights on. I told her he dog would turn them off just as the lights went off. She said that was the smartest dog she had ever seen :).....ya don't have to buy a dog a house and a car either :)

It's the wrong way of doing things and makes for a totally useless catalogue. The cover schould be a decoy for the wife and therefore depict archery equipment or something similarly meaningless. The blondes should be on the inside pages, and they don't need bows.
Best, :)

Exactly Martin! I can't take the catalog to work and look at it. The cover puts in question the contents??????
An archery catalog must have a benign insipid cover so bosses, wifes, and such will have not interest in the catalog at all......exactly :)
Then I can look at it at work :highfive:
What was Dale thinking ???????

OK, now I get it. A catalog with a pretty girl on the cover doesn't bother my wife at all (Dillon's Blue Press is on the side table in our living room right now). The problem here is you guys married the wrong girl. Too bad for you...

Dave,
Reactions like, "I didn't know you were still interested in that stuff!" can be very tricky.
On the other hand, life is good. I look older than my age and my pipe contributes to that, and young girls at bus stops don't mind me staring at them at all. I can positively read their thoughts: "May as well let the old geyser enjoy the sight - it's probably the only fun he gets. Wonder if he'll even finish that pipe."
Flattering? Nope. But I don't need to discipline my eyes anymore, which can only be a convenient thing. After all, in the days when I needed to watch my step, being a gentleman got me nowhere at all... just about the same place my few attempts at being an irresistable male chauvinist pig landed me. :)
Best,
Martin

Rusty-
I find it insulting. If I wanted to see that, Id go buy a Maxim, or shoot even a playboy, but since Im not a slave to my labido, I really have no use for either. I know what the marketing ploy is behind it, and Im about 47 IQ points above that niche.
Anyways just thought youd find refuge in having a youngster (I still feel young anyways) agree with you.

Could not disagree more. No parallel at all between the cover in question and what is in Playboy [never seen Maxim]. IMO it is insulting to the young lady to imply so.

well, while I think the picture is in good tastes and in no way offensive, I just don't think it was the best choice for a the cover of a tradtional archery catalog. Listen let's face it a lot of trad bowhunters in the States are very conservative. well at least the boyz I hunt with are just to the right of Atilla the Hun. Make President Reagan look like a liberal :). While to a man they enjoyed the picture they find it unsettling in context. I think I do too

Keeping things in prespective, it is not a big issue. just an interesting choice. The folks at 3rivers are top notch folks IMO.

Is it their way of saying thanks for ordering their catalog? Or is it there to get people to actually take a second look at the thing? Either way its eye candy- and I'm sorry, but if you let yourself be portrayed as such you open the door for "insulting implications". Call me crazy, but a picture of a good looking bow on the cover of an archery catalog makes a lot more sense then a good lookin girl.
I got away from three rivers - I liken them to a bad birthday gift- Ya never really know what's gonna be in that box, but your pretty sure it's not what you asked for. But to their credit they always make it right on the second or third try.:)
