Had me a harebrained idea I've been turning over. Finally posted it on the wall. Just to sort of see if there might be anyone else who thought it was a good idea. No sooner did I post it than I had to grab hold of my hat, and snatch for my seatbelt.

I thought some of you guys would be interested in hearing and seeing. I was actually going to duplicate the post over here but the first six responses or so were one right after the other and I never got the chance.

I've got one candidate for you. Its a one piece, so shipping may be a little challenge. But send me the address or post it out here.

Also, when mine was 8 or so, I went to wally world and bought 1/4" dowells. I just got the straightest ones I could find. Came home and fletched them with scrap feathers to make flu flu's. Put a cheap nock, and used a rubber eraser like we used to use as a child, as a point.

They gave the birds and cats in this neighborhood the full treatment. My boy killed his first bird that way. It was with a small compound bare bow, and one of those flu flus. The boys had a ball with them.

Might fire up your crew as well.

Investing your time with kids is time well spent. Before you know it, the girls will be competing for MS America, and the boys will be applying for jobs at your law firm.

Being over in England i'm not a lot of use to you with the kids bows but i would just like to say what a great job i think you're doing.
In my experience kids dont lack the enthusiasm for archery, they just lack the opportunity to have a go.

Keep up the good work and Good Luck. :luck:

Cato,

Thanks! I'll pm you the address. Someone else mentioned the 1/4 inch dowel shafting and that is exactly what I had in mind, until this fellow scorpion generously offered shafts. He emailed me and said he was sending crown-dipped shafts with field tips and nocks - up to me to teach the boys how to use my fletching jigs. He also said he was sending 2 dozen armguards. When I asked him if he sells archery supplies he told me he operates heavy equipment!
