I have a Spectra riser 20.75” long. I plan to use Samick Universal/Privilege Fiberglass Wood
medium (hope to be 63 to 64 inch bow) limbs. I want to have 41 or 42 lbs @28 with the limbs bolted all the way down.

I pretty much got the part down about riser length (42- 4 = 38) right? But I know Black Bear, Proline, and Spectra have different deflex angles on the risers) also different manufacturers weight them differently and I will have no adjustment, so they will be tightened all the way down. Has anyone used this same setup? What limb weight do I need?:help:

I think I read on one of the many Warf threads here that a Spectra gives you 6 pounds more at 28" than what the limbs are marked. So to get the 41# - 42# @ 28" that you are after you would need 35# - 36# limbs. If I'm wrong someone will be by shortly to give you the correct answer. - John

On the Hoyt Spectra/Rambo type riser due to the limb angle you will only pick up a pound or two over what the limbs are marked for at AMO 28". The Black Bear and Proline risers will give you a few more pounds due to flatter limb pocket angles...Bob

Thanks for the reply John and Bob.

Bob, if I understand your reply, the length of the riser only adds 1 or 2 lbs. As the ILF limbs on an ILF riser are adjustable, and I will be using them tightened all the way down, how much should I subtract (BEST GUESS, I read your posts about never being sure, and someone saying the Samicks are usually higher than marked).

I've got a Hoyt Rambo (same pocket angle as the Spectra) that Bob warfed for me. With Samick limbs I get precisely their marked weight, i.e. 42# limbs give me 42# on the Warf.

What Flox said, with a normal draw length, limbs bottomed out you will get pretty close to what the limbs are marked at depending on the maker of the limbs. Would be nice if all the limb makers used the same standards when marking limb weight but they don't, same thing for "ILF" hardware, they should be called "almost ILF limbs"...lol...Bob
